10 percent is a huge and worrying number.
What is the meaning of Crusaders?Just a thought…
What if there were Catholic Crusaders today who were like today’s ISIS, using violence and even terror in the name of the Church to achieve their goal, whatever that may be. How many modern day Catholics would say that the actions of these said Crusaders is a complete perversion of Catholicism?
100%, I’d say.Just a thought…

I don’t. I think in the geopolitical and sociological situation faced by the Arab world, you would be very lucky to get 90% who agreed that killing gays, Muslims, atheists, trans people, etc in the name of God is a “complete perversion”. People are people. Even in the free west you hear terrifying rhetoric in the name of God against those groups. Given a different set of circumstances…100%, I’d say.
Why even consider that Catholics will attack and seek destruction of lives is disappointing. Does not bode well for future generations who look at us for advise, when we have things like Galatians 5:22.100%, I’d say.
Do you really think there are modern Catholics who would do terrorist attacks like the ISIS-inspired Paris attacks–massacres of people at a restaurant, a concert —in the name of Catholicism?I don’t. Welcome to my world, MJ, where people will accuse you of things you don’t believe and wouldn’t endorse in a million years. I feel that way all the time. Why even consider that Catholics will attack and seek destruction of lives is disappointing. Do the terrorists have something similar to check back on in their prayer books?

People like you are never satisfied. Nothing’s ever good enough for you.10 percent is a huge and worrying number.
Hey drac,Welcome to my world, MJ, where people will accuse you of things you don’t believe and wouldn’t endorse in a million years. I feel that way all the time.
So now that you know how it feels, let that be used as motivation to not abuse people on account of their religion; you people do it to me all the time.
Drac16—It’s wrong for anyone to think all or most Muslims are sympathetic to ISIS; it’s unjust to lump all Muslims together.People like you are never satisfied. Nothing’s ever good enough for you.
You beg for evidence that Islam is not like Fox News portrays, but when evidence comes, you don’t accept it. A fascinating way to deal with facts, to say the least.
I am also curious about the answer. It would be nice to have clarification from a Muslim.Hey drac,
I am truly sorry that you always feel people accusing you of things that you don’t really believe. I’m sure people of other faiths feel that too, though. I know Catholics do. According to some people we worship the Pope and Mary, we earn our own way to Heaven, we can buy off our sins by paying a priest, etc.
Anyways, I have a question maybe you can help me with. I know very little but I have heard of something called “Taqiyya” or “al Taqiyya”. I think it is described as a Muslim’s permission to deceive a non-Muslim with the intent to further the cause of Islam. Even to the point of faking a friendship.
Is that a teaching that is true and if so, wouldn’t it be understandable why people would be skeptical of Muslims who say they condemn terrorism in the name of Islam? Couldn’t those people be practicing “al Taqiyya”? (I don’t know if I am spelling that right.)
This gets so confusing to me.
Peace,
jg
The trouble Drac, is that Ive seen it and heard it that Muslims keep telling that Christians that they manipulated the scriptures. Is this what Islam believes? Analyzed? And proven?Welcome to my world, MJ, where people will accuse you of things you don’t believe and wouldn’t endorse in a million years. I feel that way all the time.
