Muslims have given 99 names for Allah, and they are quite nice, but one of the most important one is not given which we Christians address God.

Father, Our Loving Heavenly Father

Any reason for not addressing Allah as Father? Is Allah so distant to Muslims?

Other religions call him (Mother) … that is much closer than Father !!
We are closer to him than* his jugular vein (Quran 50:16)

Say: He is God, the one and only;%between%
God, the eternal, absolute;
He sires no offspring,%between% nor is he anyone’s offspring;%between%
And there is none like him.

They don’t call God Father because they misunderstand the Jewish and Christian understanding of Father. This is clear from when the Qu’ran links fatherhood to sonship in saying God has no son (10:68).

Judaism sees God as Father in that He protects the poor, creates creations and creatures, takes care of mankind, has mercy on us, and chooses Israel as His spiritual sons and daughters. It dose not believe God has a son, nor dose it believe Ezra is the son of God. Christianity sees God as Father in the same sense Judaism dose, plus in the sense that God has a Son. Because Jesus Christ revealed Himself to be God’s Son (John 8:58-59).

Interesting fact: Muslims claim God dose protect the poor, create creations and creatures, takes care of mankind, has mercy on us, and chooses Muslims as His spiritual sons and daughter…yet won’t claim that God is a father. It’s the equivalent of an atheist claiming the beginning of the Universe was an omnipotent, omniscient, infinite being…yet won’t claim that he’s talking about God. And if that’s offensive, than you’re reading my words in the wrong way. Just making a comparison, not saying Muslims don’t worship God.

This statement is not true… where did you get it ?

we do however call him “Rabb” which has in one of its meaning “to nurture” that is

  1. *] To nourish; feed.
    *] To educate; train.
*] To help grow or develop answers.com

It can also mean Sustainer, Protector , Lord and also Master … in Hebrew , Rabbi means “my master” … that is Rabb-i (mmm is that what Thomas said to Jesus 🤷)

  1. Read the Qu’ran and you’ll see where I got the spirituality from. Allah claims he gives what was Israel’s to Muslim. Israel was God’s spiritual son. So logically, that sonship would be passed onto the Muslims. But feel free to claim the Scriptures are corrupted.

Rabbi means Teacher and Father. In Judaism, a teacher is as a father to his pupils, who are as sons to the teacher. Jesus is called Teacher by many people, but Saint Thomas calls him Lord and God. In Judaism, Lord means YHWH and God means the living God. “Lord and God” is a pun, actually; it refers both to Jesus’ Sonship and His Messiahship.

Chapter ? verse ?

Chapter ? verse ?
[5.12] And certainly Allah made a covenant with the children of Israel, and We raised up among them twelve chieftains; and Allah said: Surely I am with you; if you keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate and believe in My apostles and asslst them and offer to Allah a goodly gift, I will most certainly cover your evil deeds, and I will most certainly cause you to enter into gardens beneath which rivers flow, but whoever disbelieves from among you after that, he indeed shall lose the right way.

I think that Muslims face the same kind of problem of conceptualization in language that we Jews do - finding language to cover an unnameable idea and a linguistic problem of gender words for the genderless because, while God is neither masculine nor feminine, he or she, God is certainly not ‘it’.

Christians don’t have the same problem because Jesus was male and also God and his mother was the ‘mother of God’ and God can be conceptualized easily as ‘Father’.

Male titles and pronouns can also be used genderlessly, which is why God is called He, Him, King, Father, etc.

Female titles and pronouns aren’t used genderlessly because the father is the origin of a man, and, for that reason, humanity is called mankind and male titles and pronouns are used genderlessly for persons of unknown gender, for persons without gender, for groups of people, etc.

God isn’t a human being, but He did author the Bible through human beings.

The problem is that linguistic conventions for dealing with the idea of God became social conventions for dealing with people.

Well definition of two words isn’t an explanation of their meaning when placed together.

You ever seen one walking around with smething that looks like a necklace or a rosary praying the 99 names?
#21 Al-Qaabid - The Constricter, The Retainer, The Withholder
#62 Al-Mumeet - The Creator of Death, The Destroyer, The One who renders the living dead.
#81 Al-Muntaqim - The Avenger, The One who victoriously prevails over His enemies and punishes them for their sins. It may mean the One who destroys them.
#91 Ad-Daarr - The Distresser, The One who makes harm reach to whoever He willed

So God gives life but He can’t take it ?? Did He not send the Plaques to Pharaoh ? Who destroyed Sodom ?
