 I was just watching one of my favorite shows, A Baby Story and the couple was telling of their long journey to get pregnant. They had a miscarriage and then luckily got pregnant again right away, HOWEVER it was revealed through amnio that the next baby had a heart defect, so they felt it was best to terminate the “poor thing”. Lucky for them they got pregnant again right away and this time the baby was PERFECT. I would say more lucky for the baby, since those parents were only interested in a PERFECT baby.
It just made me so sad the power to end a life is just taken so casually.

As someone who was born with serious heart defects this just sickens and saddens me tremedously.

There was one last year of a couple who had a unborn child with a heart defect, they induced early and let the child die instead of allowing intervention. The mother blogged that she didn’t want her child to be saddled with medical expenses as a young adult because most young adults do not have medical insurance.:banghead: So apparently being dead is better than having medical bills.

How sad. How sad for that baby. How sad for those parents when/if they realize just what they’ve done. How sad for the new baby when he/she realizes that his/her parents murdered their sibling. How sad that our society is so sick that this would be ok/normal/nothing to bat an eye at on tv. Sad.:nope:

That iiiissssss really awful. I know people always say " you cannot judge until you put yourself in that parent’s shoes" but really, I think a baby with a special need is in even MORE need of love. I would love to have saved that baby 😦 So sad to hear. Just unthinkable.

That’s awful , I was born with a heart defect and yes my parents had and now I have medical bills. The cost of my Dr visits are about the same as a new pair of nice glasses and lens - yep I got bad eye sight too! I just can’t understand this. I am happy to be alive even with my medical bills. 😃

I had my 1st Dr visit this morning and He told me that most heart defects can not be 100% positively determaned from an amnio.

This makes me so sad. I would so eagerly welcome any baby into my arms and home, birth defect or not, destined to live for 90years or destined to be reunited with God in a matter of hours. We are all imperfect, and who among us should judge which should deserve to live or die?

I think I might have seen this one a while ago. Did she also have an ectopic pregnancy right before her wedding?

I think that episode was one of the last one’s I had seen. Sad:(

I just saw this too and immediately turned it…I was so furious! I just wanted to scream at the TV! Then I ended up saying a prayer for that family…she said it so matter of fact. They didn’t do it for them, they did it for the baby. They didn’t want the baby to suffer…blah blah blah…
My SIL had an ultrasound done last pregnancy and was told that the baby had an anatomical band around her abdomen and may possibly have Trisomy 18 (Sp??). Well she is two years old now and looks like tinkerbell! Perfectly healthy. No band, no chromosomal abnormality… So much for ultrasounds.

Absolutely! I’m so disgusted to hear of this happening at all, let alone being on TV. :banghead: :crying:

Lord, have mercy on this world. People are choosing hell and they don’t even realize it. 😦

Yes, that was just before they were married. It happened on a Friday and their wedding was the following Sunday. I thought that was a little strange, but I thought maybe the wedding was healing after losing a child together but after going through that loss they were able to end the life of the next baby. I just don’t get it. I wonder how they would feel if their baby they kept (lucky little guy for being PERFECT) developed a heart condition, or any other problem. Is any life judged more valuable because that person is healthy or smart or a great artist? Will she love the kept baby if he gets less than a 1600 on his SAT or needs glasses when he is four or has asthma?

Of course. It’s also apparently better to be dead than be poor, abused, bi-racial, or disabled in any way (90% of unborn babies diagnosed w/ Down Syndrom are aborted 😦 ). At the other end of the spectrum, it’s better to be dead than be terminally ill, in any sort of pain or a “burden” on your family.

It’s a “brave new world”. I can’t wait for Jesus to return!

In Christ,

Ellen

Well, now I’m all pissed off! My beautiful Goddaughter was born with a heart defect (which has since been corrected by surgery). I can’t imagine what life would be like without her. It makes me sick that parents would choose to murder their only child rather than be inconvenienced by medical bills, etc. And it makes me really sick that TLC would include this in a television show as if it weren’t that big of a deal. Terrible!

wow, I guess in their mind a baby is a like a pet. If there is something wrong with it, you just put it to "sleep

I am so disgusted, sick and furious hearing this I can’t stand it. This unthinkable. This goes against any and every instinct a decent mother should have. This woman is a monster.

Rayne, if I ever came across a blogger who wrote to the world she had the audacity to decide to allow her infant to die rather than be inconvenienced by a TREATABLE medical condition I do not think I could resist the urge to write to her and tell her where I think her attitude will lead her to in eternity. So, I’m glad you didn’t post the link because I’d just get myself in trouble.
