At the end of time when the world is destroyed by fire will the earth cease to exist or will it be made again?

I know some people think the earth will end forever then other groups say the earth will still be here and will finally be paradise.

So my question is which is it? And if it is not going to be destroyed completly then why are people going to be here instead of in Heaven? Or does heaven and earth merge together and become the same thing?

I hope that makes sense or at least you can figure out what I am trying to ask. Thanks again.

The answer to your question is that God has not told us. We do not know.

Remember that this “fire” is God Himself restoring His creation to its pristine form, and not a created fire.

As it says in Revelation, “Behold, I make all things new”–not “all new things”.

As for filling in the blanks, leave it in God’s hands.

Catechism: “After the universal judgment. . . .The universe itself will be renewed: . . . Sacred Scripture calls this mysterious renewal, which will transform humanity and the world, ‘new heavens and a new earth’ . . .”(1042–1043).

In Scripture we also see the new heavens and the new earth come into being only after the final judgment, not before (cf. Rev. 20:11–15; 21:1–5).
