Archbishop Wilson is an honourable man who had a reputation for dealing effectively with sexual abuse. He was even invited to a US Conference of Catholic Bishops in 2002 to explain how Australian bishops had responded to the abuse crisis. He has been found innocent in a court of law, but he can never polish his tarnished reputation. The media owes him an apology. The former prime minister owes him an apology. Will he get one? Not likely.”

Poor man. Hope the love and care of the people around him help him spend the rest of his days in peace…

It is really sad that his reputation has been negatively affected.

Prayers for him. Good that justice worked in this case.

Some Bishops are guilty of covering up abuse and some are not.

Seems to me that Australia is in full on scape goat mode. They want someone to pay for child abuse and any Catholic cleric will do. The higher the better.

If one bothers to read what the judge said, there is still some questions here. He said suspicion is not enough to convict. That means though that suspicion is enough to suspect! Before we name a school or build a statue let’s not jump the gun and say this is what it isn’t. The fact is, the way the entire church is run globally will make it hard to ever have a smoking gun in these cases.

A bishop should never be in a situation like this. Either he is innocent, then the guilty verdict was a huge mistake. Or he is guilty, then the consequences are even worse! How should I feel?
