OCP does have chant materials, but does any one actually use them?. If your parish uses OCP hymnals, you probably won’t hear “Please turn to 744, Adoro Te Devote” with a choir and organ. Instead, you’ll hear, “Please turn to 744, Jesus Is My BFF” with liturgical bongos. Now, now. Be nice.

It seems that OCP only sells it to say they sell it. No one who would want to use chant would 1) pay money for completely free materals and 2) pay money to OCP!Now, now. Be nice.

This. I have actually gotten so good at this that I can see the hymn numbers and tell you whether it is a traditional hymn(not often) or one of Mr. Schute’s new twangy tunes(almost always). It is sad, but this battle has just begun in earnest. For forty plus years we have had a deterioratin of our worship. The Sacred has been suplanted by the popular. Several generations of Catholics have now grown up in this environment, with poor or marginal catechesis and it is going to take Prayers, Time and perseverance to turn the tide. Did i mention Prayers? I know the situation differs from parish to parish, which is also sad for the Universal Church, but we just have to have Faith. Our Holy Father +Pope Benedict is doing his best, one step at a time.OCP does have chant materials, but does any one actually use them?.
