Franciscum:
It would be wonderful if all Catholics were better catechised.
Yes that would be nice…
I taught the Faith for many years to children who came from homes where their parents were poorly catechized…
Thanks for your response,
God Bless,
Annunciata:)

Annunciata:
Gee Fraciscum, thanks for taking the wind out of my sails…I was so honored to be a part of my grandson’s Christening/Baptism that I didn’t give it a second thought… Annunciata:)
Franciscum, you missed the point. Don’t let the letter of the law choke the spirit of the law. Praise the Lord that a sweet babe entered the Kingdom!

Also, in regard to the tabernacle being behind the Priest:
The Priest is exalting the Lord, not turning his back. and for (all or part?) of the Mass, the Priest is Persona Christo (sp?) The Priest is in the person of Christ, so again, our Lord is not being slighted.

butting out, now…

Peace.

The “letter of the law” may never be contravened by what you term the “spirit of the law.” That exact attitude has taken a devestating toll on the Mass in a great many locations within the USA. It places one’s own interpretation ahead of what the Church actually tells us to do and that’s deadly on the long term.

I see a great deal of friction in the Church in the USA today because real liturgical reform (led by JPII) is finally taking place. We are certain to see more and more bitter opposition by those who have made a great effort to introduce liturgical abuse, but in the end, the Holy Spirit is sure to prevail.

The next 12-18 months is shure to be most entertaining.

More good news! Our pastor just came back from a three day retreat with 160 teenagers preparing for confirmation. Over that long weekend he heard confession for 14 hours. He remarked how blessed we are as a parish for in others he hears about getting the young people into the confessional is like pulling teeth.

I might add that this parish takes following our Holy Father and the magisterian, teaching the Faith and living our Faith very seriously. The priests preach homilies that deal with the tough issues unstintingly. There’s also lots of joy and coffee and donuts.

Wow!!! Loyalty to the Holy Father and the Magisterium along with coffee and donuts. :coffee: Where do I sign up??? 👍

Another “Bright Moment” to share (that IS the name of this thread, isn’t it? 😉 ):
Yesterday my husband & I attended a different parish, one lead by the Capuchins (Franciscans).
In addition to the priest incensing both the Gospel & the altar, the Mass we attended had a young, college-age looking young man as cantor. I don’t know what I expected, but it sure wasn’t the powerful, rich tenor voice that issued forth! The hymns he led us in were rattling around my brain all day!

The more bright moments the better. :dancing: They warm the spirit and lighten the heart. :bounce:

Thanks Shannon & John! I’ve asked that the smaller picture be removed…couldn’t really see him…
I crocheted his Christening/Baptism outfit! Pride!:o Oh well, I am proud to be a Catholic and all that goes with it! Annunciata:)
