I can’t sleep at this time even if I try. If I go to bed at 3:00 a.m., I will still wake up at around 4:30 or 5:00 a.m.Bleh! I am like this too. I haven’t had a job for about two months now. When I have a job and a routine, I’m OK. I don’t love getting up early, but I can do it. But when I don’t have a job, I start staying up later and later, and sleeping later and later. Lately I’ve been going to sleep around 3 and getting up around 11. Now, that sounds like I’m sleeping super late, but since I go to bed so late, it’s still 8 hours of sleep. But even when I go to bed earlier, say at 1 or 2, I still can’t seem to make myself get up earlier than 11. I HATE it. I hate sleeping half the day.
I think that people who can sleep hours like 3:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m. ought to seriously consider the possibility that they would be happiest working a 2nd or 3rd shift. Depending on what your career options are, knowing that you would be good at 2nd or 3rd shift might help you to land a job.
We have people working in the lab who have done these shifts for decades, and they love the hours and are not tired at all.
