Hi,

My name is James, let me tell you all a bit about myself. I am 23 and a cook. I plan on becoming a teacher. I have a BA in Animation, i plan on getting married soon.

I was raised Baptist all my life. I have had many, many, Misconceptions of Catholicism and thanks to my Love, she has helped me move past my own understandings and helped me find the Courage to Seek out God and follow him were he is, and that has lead me to be joining the Church at Easter.

I have something I want to talk about. It is something that might offend and might cause some to have their feathers ruffled, but I see a grave problem.

The problem is Apathy of our Church, Protestant and Catholic alike. I remember going into my Church and seeing People so Bored and lifeless. Communion taken Half heartedly and no one really loving any one, they all just sat in their chairs with the pompous look of “Holier then thou”. I felt Disgusted and my heart hurt. Now i see a grown trend in the Protestant Church of People pooping up with all new ways to look at and read the bible. With new Philosophies and interpretations and it is rampant. Not just like with Calvin or Luther, but Holy crud rampant. Watching the TV Channel TBN, I feel sick to my Stomach at what is shown on that channel.

Then I started to Go to Mass. I go to a little church out in Rosamond CA, called St. Mary’s, I love my priest there. He is an Elderly man who reminds me of a Grandpa and i just want to sit at his feet and Soak up as much information as i can. From all that i know and all that i believe he deemed it no Necessary for me to go through RCIA because “You already know what they would teach and you know more of what the bible says and it is stories then any typical Catholic.” Here is why he said that. As a protestant we have to read the bible. WE have no authority on earth, all we have is Sola Scriptura, and know i know that is wrong, but it is all we have as protestants. So we have to read and study to make sure that what the pastor is saying is right, plus i was a Bible Teacher for about 1 1/2 years and i had to study and pray and hope to God that what i was saying was what he wanted. Any way off the rabbit trail and back to the topic. When i go to my Church all i see are Extremely Old people, Children and parents, no young people. i think me and my love are the youngest youngest none married people who aren’t children or Teens and there are that mean teens. When i go to my Protestant church i see So many teens and young adults my eyes Ble.ed.

I truly believe in the church and the Eucharist and everything the Catechism says, but i am seeing a trend in the church, Because i don’t just go to St. Mary’s, there are about 5 parish buildings where i live, and if you cant make it to one of the services at your parish you have about 4 other ones you can try to make it to, and every single one is the same way.

The title of this post is a Call to War. the reason for this is because we are at war. Satan is attacking the church and leading people away from it in the thousands and no one is stopping it. why is this happening? why is no one standing up to stop it? the Pope wants to bring all Christian churches back together again, and i do not see many people trying to help him.

What is wrong with us? Catholics, seem to be just content being told what to do, and never as St. Paul says, “Test Everything” and gain a deeper knowledge of the bible and Christ and they seem to be ok with Going to Mass once a week or once a month or God forbid the Once a year Catholics, and then going out into the week and denying Jesus with their Life style.

Protestants seem to be just OK with Interrupting the bible and leaning on their own understandings and following blindly the next fad of the “Church”. They also seem to be just OK with Going to church once a week and then going out and denying Christ with their lives.

What is wrong with us? Why do most of us just seem OK with Getting by? i go to my Protestant church and i see people that i know have business calling themselves Christians by the way they act out side of Church, they put on a farce in that "Holy Building’ and act Good for one hour and it is Disgusting and the same goes on in the Catholic church. I have found only a very small percentage of people that i know who are catholic that know what they believe and believe what they know to the point of Dying for it. I see priests who speak out and step up and make known the truth of God and then the people in the parish complain and he quietly shoved off to a new parish with a slap on the wrist and then is told to quite down, don’t rock the boat. Did you all know that in the Fresno Diocesses there is only one new priest coming up and he does not become ordained until 2010.

Other Countries are sending us priests. America is now a missionary nation. What is wrong with us? Were are all knights willing to Die fro Christ? were are all the Robin hoods willing to fight against the Tyranny of Apathy? Were are all the Black knights willing to stand against the Darkness? Were have all the Good men gone? Because all it takes for evil to prevail is for Good men to stand by and do nothing… Evil is winning, What are we gonna do about?

Sure you don’t want to be a football coach instead? Sounded like a great halftime speech to me.
Welcome to the Catholic Church! We are so happy to have you.
I don’t know whether or not its a trend that young people are moving away from the Church. It may be. My son goes to a Catholic high school and I’m really impressed by he and his classmates’ views on their faith.
Anyway, I went to Catholic schools through high school, and when I was college age, I just sort of fell away. I guess young people have “other” things on their mind than their faith at that age.
Later on, I came right back. In my case, it was an attack on the Catholic faith that got me off the bench and into the fight.
I’m interested to see what others here think about whether or not this is indeed a trend.
Again, welcome, and God bless you for your passion.

I dont want it to be just a speech. I myself dont want to be an Apathetic Christian. I want to be a Knight. Back in the Medieval days, the Knights were the most feared unit on the battle field. They were Hardened warriors and Ardent in their stand. Back in the bible days there were King Davids Mighty men, one of them Named “Eleazar” Fought so hard against the Philistines that he grew so tired, that he did not have the strength to let go of his sword.

I want to be those men.

OK, what are YOU gonna do about it? You want to be one of those men? A Christian soldier? A Catholic Knight? Then do it!! Not everybody is a leader and someone has to lead. So what/how are you going to do it? Maybe talk to the priest and set up a study on how to defend the faith. That’s one suggestion. So get going and God speed!

I will be, once I am in the Church i am going to help my Parish Priest with a movie Review Section in our bulletin, Help teach a Children’s bible class, and Suggest an bible Class that goes through Genesis all the way to Revelation.

Great. It’s up to all of us to be Knights of the Church. We can’t sit back and leave it up to just the priests and even some of them need to be straighten out sometimes!

We also need to help our priests. They are fighting a losing battle and the apathy is from us, So not only do they ahve to fight the devil, do mass and other priestly duties, they have to fight our apathy.
