Dear Forum

I was grouchy at my brother today, who will be confirmed this coming year. I treated him a little bit brusque/rough today and the thoughts kept coming into my head, are you treating him rough because he is getting confirmed (even though I am confirmed and will be his sponsor) and I kept telling the thoughts, or at least I think I was telling the thoughts, no. Im not. I dont know why I treated him so rough, Im so afraid I did this out of envy, but not exactly sure…

What did your spiritual director say? Have you spoken to him? Has he given you guidance?

If you haven’t contacted him, you need to do so.

If you do not have a spiritual director, you need to get one.

Do you dwell on yourself for attention? If so, you are getting the wrong kind of attention.

You are creating a reason where there logically isn’t one.
You must see that the reason you gave just doesn’t make sense, even surely to you. 🙂

Okay so now go and be kind to him.
Apologize calmly
without explanation,
without self-justification,
just “Sorry I was mean to you”
or whatever brief, brief comment suits you
And not looking miserable, a kind smile instead.

Less worrying about yourself, more practical kindness to others.
Jesus didn’t say He will admit souls to heaven who are the most introspective, He gave as His criteria for judging souls…practical kindness to others.
See Matthew 25 verses 31-46

You might find it helpful to pray each morning:
Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi
Code:
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen
May God bless you.
🙂

Thanks, Seira! Now I better understand April’s post, beyond the obvious.
MMM, I hope you have a good laugh over this one.
Laughter is healing.

Thank you everyone…

I do pray the prayer of St. Francis, He is my patron after all
