“I was reading the other day St. Paul’s letter to Timothy: “I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all men, for kings and all who are in high positions…” (1 Timothy 2:1-2) In our day that makes some people grind their teeth. “What? Pray for Trump?!” or, in the past: “What! Pray for Obama?!””
 
Yes, praying for the President and the rest who govern us, (President Peña Nieto here in Mexico).
 
Don’t like a leader? All the better reason to pray for them!
 
My former parish always prayed for both the President and our states Governor regardless of their political affiliation or ideology. As was mentioned, it would be particularly important to pray for those with ideologies we don’t agree with (…or who implement policies against the faith).
