I was just thinking today about my family situation and how it was so nerve wrecking for me to tell my parents (mostly my mom) I was joining the Catholic church. I would overall say my mom has been supportive but had and still has questions, concerns, and anger at the Catholic faith for things that happened years ago.
Anyways I remember when I was in RCIA and talked about how it was tough for me to be the only person in my immediate family who will be Catholic and how I would get angry. One of the volunteers made a great point of saying that I should thank them for raising me in the Christian faith and acknowledge and appreciate them for doing that. I thought that was such a beautiful way of looking at the situation. Every time differences come up I try to remember how grateful I am to my parents for raising me to know and love Jesus so that I could have some foundation when it was time for me to explore on my own.
I know other posters out there are dealing with family members who are frustrating due to their unhappiness because you converted to Catholicism. Hopefully this is something that may help you too.
God Bless!
