I have a complex question about a past thing I did, which I now realize was mortally sinful. I know that if I did something in the past that was mortally sinful and didn’t realize it until I can still receive Holy Communion provided I mention it the next time I go to Confession. (Please correct me if I’m wrong about this!) I want to ask if the above applies to the following situation:
There is a dogma (I won’t mention which one) that I had a hard time accepting until recently. I heard and learned a lot about that dogma, but I still didn’t fully embrace it some of it was resistance, some of it was ignoring and not thinking about. I never publicly rejected it, but I did a quite a decent amount of knowledge about it and yet ignored and resisted it.
Also, after embracing this dogma, part of me considered whether or not the past rejection of the dogma was sinful, but I didn’t really think about it until now, and have received Holy Communion and went to Confession without mentioning this a couple of times between then and now.
Can I still receive Holy Communion between now and my next Confession, or would that be sacrilegious Communion? Also, would this sin be considered error or heresy?
