Another question that was asked is why would God, being all knowing and knowing what is going to happen, create a world that he knew he would have to destroy?
Another question that was brought up when discussing the story of Lot is why did God have to send angels to sodom if He already knew what was going on? (Since God is all knowing)
As I can relate to your first question, is Why would God being all knowing and knowing what is going to occur? We turn to scripture and examples of change. When I lived a life of superficial faith I was in my same body, however the moment I gave my life to him and still struggle to live as a reflection of Jesus my old self was remove and within my current body am recreated anew and my old self has gone away and remains gone Thanks be to God.
And then we fast forward to the Return of Jesus when he calls his people and know this to be the rapture when the the believers in the ground will rise first and then those who walk the earth. Will I be the same body or Something greater, I put my thought as this if I am through my obedience I prayerfully follow as he has allow me to do so, will I be in spirit or in body it will not matter to me because I will have been allowed to walk and be with the God of all creation.
When we read revelations and study the return of Jesus it states that the once old world will go away and and a new world will replace it. Does it mean the completely I do not know, but when the kingdom of God decends from the sky. It tells us a remarkable structure (some have decerned the measurements to be 1500miles wide 1500miles wide and 1500miles high, could this be in relation to John’s gosple my fathers house mansion has many rooms?
Yet we try to understand by the standards of our current world, Will I have my current status, car, home, pleasures, etc, etc… we apply the “word” Destroy instead of something greater beyond what any human can understand some stand by their beliefs and convections which can lead some astray desiring things only this current world can offer. We would have to ask the question would we want the all of the things the current world only has to offer? or only the things God has designed for our eternity, would this then mean change as we know it I would say yes. But it will be greater than I can ever know.
And to address the question of Lot? Again I only inspiried by my Love for God, What has God promised to each of us? It is once we are his nothing or anything can remove us from his hold. And yes his messengers of mercy were sent to… deliver those from harm who live and put God first, before anything else and when lot offer his earthly sacifrices of his family to turn away the evilness of man, it was not enough because of the evil in the hearts of those who have turned away from God. What did happen then? God saved those who should not be held at the same contempt of the evil, of those who would stop at nothing to satisfy the evil in their hearts.
We have to understand, the same is offered to us Free Will… even though they we’re offered something other than what they wanted they Refused. Do we not do the same when we turn our face from the Father. We are told the cost of sin, is death, and at that time offering of attonement were allow to pay the price for the deed of evil and betrayal that was done. I am thankful God sent his Son to allow me to come to him through his son and from that time of Jesus fulfilling the will of GOD it is the only way.
And yes destruction of sodom was performed, but what was allowed to occur first the rescue of those who do not deserve the same of those in the city. Was the earth changed forever I think not and by the beliefs of some who desired the same evil and darkness now. I do look forward with joyful hope that Jesus returns, and is expected and desired by me and I pray that I have been an good servant, and will hear “Well done good and faithful Servant”
I do hope this helps you as it helps me through the toil of this current earthly sinful nature.
