I remember being told that Mary asked us to pray the Rosary for an end to abortion. Does anyone know who she asked this of and when?

Also, while trying to research this myself, I ran across a link to Rosary of the Unborn. You can find the site here: rosaryoftheunborn.com/. Does anyone know if this is legit or if the Church has said anything about this? Or is this what I’m looking for?

After doing a quick online search, it appears that the “visionary” who received those messages is not approved by the church.

However, I’m sure that praying The Rosary with the intention of the end to abortion is not only fine, but a wonderful prayer intention. (Just pray the regular Rosary.😉 )

I’m sure some more-informed posters will be able to offer more information.

I pray the Rosary and I am against abortion but that has nothing to do with the so-called visionary and her messages. As Belle 10 said these “messages” are not approved by the Church and having read them since you started the thread I am certainly not convinced they are genuine.

Yeah, I was pretty sure they weren’t authentic just reading them. Especially the part that explains how that specific company was chosen to exclusively make the Rosaries. I think that the Rosary they make is nice, though.

Anyway, I was still thinking there was a Saint or someone that our Blessed Mother told to pray the Rosary for an end to abortion.

I don’t like the money-marketing premise or the"private-made-public" so-called vision. If the embryo bead rosaries were just sold as rosaries, I would get one in a heartbeat, but I’m not comfortable with the…Bayside feel of it.

(I need to confess that I love those fetus beads, though, and think their message can be a very powerful witness…but it’s the prayers that count, not the particular beads they’re on – gold plated or plastic glow in the dark). I need reiterate I am sorry that these rosaries are tainted by what I can only call a scheme to appeal to the uneducated, the gullible, and the superstitious.

Anyway, I was still thinking there was a Saint or someone that our Blessed Mother told to pray the Rosary for an end to abortion.
Couldn’t that be almost ANY saint aware of abortion? 🙂

I can’t think of the saint or blessed who advocated the rosary to end abortion by direction of Mary…but these links may help – it can show you which parish is matched up to pray for a particular “abortion mill” by state:
priestsforlife.org/mills/index.htm

Wait…I am thinking that it may be someone recent and not a saint at all…Mother Teresa of Calcutta or maybe even Archbishop Fulton Sheen?

Here, I am only able to find Saints’ quotes against abortion, the closest that I can find according to Mary’s will for Her Son…but I will keep looking for particular messages from the Blessed Mother to a confirmed visionary about abortion, too.

Oh, here we are, though I don’t know if any came from the Blessed Mother:
**Didache (first century) **
**“You shall not slay the child by abortions.” (Didache 2:2) **

**St. Clement of Alexandria(223 AD) “Those who use abortifacients commit homicide.” **
“. . . if we would not kill off the human race born and developing according to God’s plan, then our whole lives would be lived according to nature. Women who make use of some sort of deadly abortion drug kill not only the embryo but, together with it, all human kindness.” ~ Clement of Alexandria, priest and the “Father of Theologians” (c. 150-220), Christ the Educator, Volume II, page 10.

St. John
** Chrysostom (345-407 AD) “Where there is murder before birth, you do not even let a harlot remain only a harlot, but you make of her a murderess as well.” **

St. Ambrose of ****Milan***ca 339-397 ***The wealthy, in order that their inheritance may not be divided among several, deny in the very womb their own progeny. By use of’ parricidal mixtures they snuff out the fruit of their wombs in the genital organs themselves. In this way life is taken away before it is born … Who except man himself has taught us ways of repudiating children?" -Hexameron

St. Augustine
** of Hippo **(354-430 AD) “Sometimes their sadistic licentiousness goes so far…they find one means or another to destroy the unborn and flush it from the mother’s womb.” (The City of God, Book One, Chapter 16)

St. Jerome
** (c. 340-420), **Letter to Eustochium, 22.13.
“Some virgins [unmarried women], when they learn they are with child through sin, practice abortion by the use of drugs. Frequently they die themselves and are brought before the ruler of the lower world guilty of three crimes; suicide, adultery against Christ and murder of an unborn child.”

**St. Basil the Great ****(379) “The woman who purposely destroys her unborn child is guilty of murder. The hair-splitting difference between formed and unformed makes no difference to us.” **
**“Moreover, those, too, who give drugs causing abortion are deliberate murderers themselves, as well as those receiving the poison which kills the- fetus.” **
-Letter 188:2

**The Apostolic Constitutions *****ca 380 *****“Thou shalt not slay the child by causing abortion, nor kill that which is begotten. For everything that is shaped, and his received a soul from God, if slain, it shall be avenged, as being unjustly destroyed.” **
-7:3

**St. Thomas Aquinas: **Teaches that "abortion is a grave sin against the natural law."
[Would someone please help me find the resource for this quote?]

Another one of those “private revelations” you can safely ignore. You can decide what, if any, your intentions for the Rosary are. Peace on Earth, End to abortion, whatever.

In my case, it is for the poor Souls in Purgatory. I fully undertsand that there are many other worthy “intentions” out there, and that includes abortion, but I seem to be drawn to do all I can for the Church Suffering.

Thanks for the responses everyone. The reason I am looking for a time that Mary told someone to pray the Rosary for an end to abortion is that I’m looking to add to my Pro-Life arguments. That would at least (I hope) put an end to any discussions I have with those that claim to be Catholic and pro-choice. Cause, you know, it’s hard to argue with a message directly from Heaven.

If you’re working with a tougher crowd, I can post a lot of Biblical references. Let me know? This thread might also help someone else in the same situation you are in.

If you have the time, that would be great.
