A crippling blow to Americas' prestige

I think our response has been good. They shouldn’t blame the rest of the country for the
response in New York, New Jersey and Massachusettes and 2-3 other states.
I think the response in NY and NJ was good. NYC is a very densely populated metropolis and NJ is the densest state in the nation. Their response was strong and appropriate – I would not fault them.

I blame Louisiana for the extent the pandemic spread there. Mardi Gras should have been cancelled (as was the St. Patrick’s Day parades in Chicago and NYC). I think the response was less than optimal in Florida, too.

I’m not so sure “other nations” were admiring us that much anyway.

But here’s a question (and I really don’t know what to think on this one)…

Does it really matter of other nations like us?
I mean, we make trade deals and military alliances and stuff, but o wonder how much of it is motivated by them liking us or if it’s because we have valuable commodities to use for leverage.

I mean, nobody much “likes” China, but that hasn’t stopped them becoming powerful.

Where I live, it is already going to be 101° this Saturday. I cannot tell you how uncomfortable it was wearing my mask when I was out today. Not everyone was wearing a mask. About half or less than half. There were so many people out on the streets. I picked up Italian food from a pick up window that you walk up to.
None of the cooks or workers were wearing masks.

If their response was so strong and appropriate why did so many die in New York and New Jersey?

It isn’t a secret where America conducts international business.

I see that often, too. We will never stay on top of this if people don’t start behaving responsibly! It isn’t forever. It isn’t THAT inconvenient. It IS very important! We need to get it through our thick heads that these precautions are for not just the virus but our economy as well! As I said, if we go back to all our bad habits and no precautions, another economic collapse is our own fault. 😤
