I don’t think you can sell or buy blessed items…The items must be blessed after they are purchased…This practice is called Simony, after Simon Magus who tied to buy the Holy Spirit for his magic act
ok I’ll look into that thanks for the info.Generally what happens is a place will say they will have the articles blessed after you purchase them, or that instead of directly buying them you can give a suggested donation for them.
These are what the best places do. It’s a courtesy to have them blessed for you, but a direct exchange for something blessed even if the intent is just for the item and not the blessing, has a bad appearance generally.
I’m fairly certain from a brief glance that isn’t an ‘official’ shop above.
That being said having an article blessed is usually very easy, even St. Benedict medals don’t require a Benedictine to bless them, any priest can do it properly if he breaks out the ritual book book for it.
There’re some organizations that are dedicated to rescuing holy items that have somehow gotten into auction houses and are being auctioned by people who do not care about relics or simony, but only making money.
There’s a hypothesis running around that selling a blessed object removes the blessing, but AFAIK this is only speculation.
Wow - I had never thought of it that way before. Thanks!!Archbishop Fulton Sheen summarized the reason for using a crucifix instead of an empty cross when he said, “Keep your eyes on the crucifix, for Jesus without the cross is a man without a mission, and the cross without Jesus is a burden without a reliever.”
Crucifix..I too believe it is more outwardly reminding of HIS sacrifice for us.

I hope you do !!! Have a wonderful and Blessed Easter !!! I know mine will be, I will be CONFIRMED tonight at Mass !!!
God bless everyone !!! :knight1::crossrc::blessyou:
I E-mailed them and they do not bless it until after purchase and its only done if you ask for it. She said that yes selling an already blessed item does take the blessing away. But if it is blessed after purchase it is ok.Generally what happens is a place will say they will have the articles blessed after you purchase them, or that instead of directly buying them you can give a suggested donation for them.

Leaflett Missal company has a excellent selection of Crucifix’s Here is a link to their site.Which would you wear a cros of a crucifix? I think I would rather wear a crucifix, but I haven’t seen many for sale in jewelry stores…They usually show very beautiful crosses
I reacll when I was a girl it was more of a protestant thing to wear a plain cross…I have a cross I seldom wear, I prefer a miraculous medal
Is there a place I can find a nice crucifix that doesn’t look like it is made for a man only?
