A curious question

Okay, okay, I have another question I’ve been pondering on for some time now. I went through my old Time magazines, and one of the articles was about children who are born with both male and female parts. Who are they, then? Should they be priests or nuns, so to speak? Should parents or the person his/herself choose a side? It also mentioned a rather crude phrase doctors use, “it’s easier to make a hole than it is to build a pole”. Awful, I know.

Just was wondering what some of the moral tangles or implications came of this situation, and whether the Church had any teaching on it.

While a child can be born possessing both external sex organs from male and female, their blood will only possess one gender characteristic in their DNA. In such cases, a DNA test should be performed and if the parent or child requests, surgical procedures to remove the extra body parts.

They should not be limited to their chosen vocation except that in most cases, when a child is born with both male and female genitalia, most times, neither is fully developed and will never be so… so if a child born with male and female parts is determined to be female by blood test, most times she will never develop normal female sex organs or be able to reproduce. Same goes if such child is genetically male, he probably will not be able to reproduce.
