A Deist Friend....

Hello:

I have a question about a dear friend of mine. After many years of doubt, he claims to be a full fledged deist. He went from Atheism to Buddhism to Bahai to now Deism. He has been talking with me about Jesus lately and I thnk he is going to convert to the Catholic faith. He has a science/reason mind/personality yet he is open to new ideas. Since he already believes in one God I feel he is almost home. Do you have any thoughts/readings/arguments/books/proofs/quotes/reccomendations that can finally help this brother swim the Tiber. Thank you as always in advance!

PS I do think statements like give him the Bible or tell him to pray about it might not work.

Based on what you describe it seems to me that the best course of action is to continue to do what you have been doing - being a friend. Too often, I think we want speed things up, but only end up making things worse.
 
“Mere Christianity,” by C.S. Lewis. Don’t push it on him, though, but if he asks, that’s a good place to start.
