I am not sure about you, but I do believe in demons. One such manifestation is that of the disease of alcoholism.

I have 6 children. Aged 8, 7, 5, 3, 23 months…, and at least one more baby on the way.

THANK GOD SHE IS PREGNANT FIRST OF ALL
The pregnancy will provide the leverage I need to really keep an eye on her. How she got alcohol was incredibly deceptive.

Reason being, she has started drinking again and the horrors of this demon are just wrenching. Tonight the kids all had nightmares, every single one of them was restless. I haven’t slept (she was busted today sneaking drinks in).

I will not leave my wife while she is pregnant… But if she drinks again after the pregnancy, then we will have to part ways for a while because of the hardship her drinking is on the family. Think… 2 DUIs in < 3 years. A .245 and a .174 (US Units). She had our children in the car for each. Collided with some cars on this one.

The kids can NOT be raised with her as a danger. So … yea, I’d force her to leave the home if she started drinking again after the pregnancy.

Pray for my family. My children are so dear and sweet. They deserve better and my poor wife is just being destroyed by this … demon. Pray for my family. We can’t even get to mass because she wrecked the car in the most recent DUI.

Eternal God , in whom mercy is endless,
and the treasury of compassion inexhastible ,
look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us ,
that in difficult moments we might not despair
nor become despondent , but with great confidence ,
submit ourselves to Your Holy Will ,
which is love and mercy itself . Amen

St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Hi Alexander,

Prayers said for your family, that all may be kept safe.

May God bless all of you during this difficult time.

Pax Christi.

Your wife needs to get to AA and quit alcohol forever.

You have to stick with her.

I will offer prayers; it’s been about 15 months since I’ve had any drink.

God bless.

God help you. Just a practical consideration. Why isn’t there a breath-alizer test on her car? Usually after a DUI, many things are put into place so that the person cannot drive. Also, what about Re-hab? If she continues to drink while pregnant, she may (for many reasons) find that the baby was affected. This is hard to live with. And, a great excuse not to get sober.

You should be in AL-Anon; she needs AA, a sponsor, friends who don’t drink, and a reality check from her doctor. She may even need meds. (if she can take them) to get her off the alcohol. Hope you discuss this with her gyn/MD.

Oh Our Dearest Lord!!!
Please help this family.
Please help provide transportation to AA everyday.
.
Please help our friend remember that alcoholism is a disease,
It’s difficult to remember when his children’s lives’ are on the line.
Help his wife choose You and her family over this drug
Give her strength and a supernatural desire to overcome
her addiction.
Please protect all from harm. We pray in Jesus name.

I agree that she should go to AA, however, you know as well as I do that a person isn’t ready until they’re ready and you cannot force anyone into the program. That being said, I would suggest that AlexanderWSmith find an Al-Anon group in his area and start there while gently trying to lead his wife to her own recovery. With Al-Anon, Alexander will find support from people in similar situations who will be able to help him and offer him fellowship he might not be able to find elsewhere. I have been clean and sober with the help of God and the AA program for a number of years and I can say with conviction that it does indeed work if the person is willing to work the program.

Dearest Alexander, I am praying for you and your family, including your wife, that you may be able to find recovery and healing from this most horrible of afflictions.

Hail, holy Queen, Mother of Mercy! Our life, our sweetness, and our hope! To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn, then, most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us; and after this our exile show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.
℣ Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God, ℟ that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Pray the exorcism prayer with your children, i would also go to marraige counsling with her and some theology of the body. Pray with her, daily. Demons normally take at a persons weakness. She can be going through something, i would spend time with her and let her know your there. I will pray for you and your family. I know how bad it gets, you just need to be there 100% Pax

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Praying for this situation and your intentions. Please do everything you can to prevent your wife from drinking during this pregnancy, fetal alcohol syndrome can be very devastating.

Memorare

REMEMBER, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

Prayer to Venerable Matt Talbot for Addiction
God of mercy, we bless you in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ, who ministers to all who come to Him. Give your strength to Alexander’s wife, who is bound by the chains of addiction. Enfold her in your love and restore her to freedom through your grace.

Lord, look with compassion on all those who have lost their health and have broken relationships because of their attachment to the object of their addiction. Restore to them the assurance of your unfailing mercy, and strengthen them in the work of recovery. To those who care for them, grant patient understanding and a love that perseveres.

Lord, in your servant, Venerable Matt Talbot, you have given us a wonderful example of triumph over addiction, of devotion to duty, and of lifelong reverence to the Holy Sacrament. May his life of prayer and penance give Alexander’s wife courage to take up her cross and follow in the footsteps of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Father, we ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

**Dear Alexander:

No matter what you have to do, stop your wife from drinking. Have her committed to an institution, of you have to, because her drinking can cause irreparable damage to the baby. As the Dad, you must protect the baby. **

O Holy Trinity,
we thank you for having given to the Church
St Pope John Paul II,
and for having made him shine with your fatherly tenderness,
the glory of the Cross of Christ and the splendour of the Spirit of love

He, trusting completely in your infinite mercy
and in the maternal intercession of Mary, has shown himself
in the likeness of Jesus the Good Shepherd
and has pointed out to us holiness
as the path to reach eternal communion with You.

Grant us, through his intercession,
according to your will, the grace that we implore,
thankful that he is now numbered among your saints.
Amen.

Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory Be…
St John Paul II, Pray for Us!

Spot on. Conversion cannot be forced; it comes from the heart. Begging, threatening and preaching are useless until and unless she herself has a change of heart and attitude.

God bless.

Some states have different IID (Ignition Interlock Device) laws. Technically my wife should have to have one for 2 years b/c of her high (.17) blood alcohol content. BUt the truth is that laws are enforced arbitrarily. Some judges enforce the law, others don’t.
