A different Gloria

Today for the 29th Sunday in Ordinary Time, we sang the Gloria as composed for the Mass of the Resurrection. I had not heard this before. This Gloria is majestic.
Have you used this Gloria at your Mass?

Since the first Sunday of the new translation, we sing the Simplex Gloria by Proulx. We recently added the Gloria from the Mass of Resurrection to our repertoire but only for special occasions. Our pastor says he’s never heard a congregation sing the Gloria so well and enthusiastically as we do. The bishop told us when he stood in for our priest one Sunday that we lived up to our reputation as a “sing congregation” and that he has never seen a parish sing the Gloria like we do.

As a congregation, we only know the Gloria sung. One Sunday, a visiting priest led us in saying it. We just stood around, not knowing what to do. He ended up saying it alone.

Interestingly, we only knew the old translation said.
 
We sang this version a few times when our previous pastor was preparing to retire. Ordinarily we chanted it in Latin but he wanted us to know how to sing it in English. Our new pastor, thankfully, has us chant it in Latin, too.

The YouTube video (linked to in the OP) is a rather ornate arrangement. In our parish we sing it much simpler (piano or organ, cantor, and congregation), and it sounds fine.

The lyrics are the same so it really doesn’t make much difference, IMO. Unless a particular arrangement helps you remember it better.
 
This Gloria is very beautiful and powerful, and yes, we’ve sung it, a while ago. For now, we’re back to the Storrington Mass setting. I still miss the Mass of Creation with the “Christ Has Died,” and the Gloria for that setting was even more beautiful and powerful.
 
This Gloria would be superb for the Gloria of a Catholic wedding Mass.
