A different God?

I was just received into the Church this past Easter and I’m getting quite a bit of opposition. There is someone who told me that God told her I shouldn’t be Catholic. She says she only prays to God, so therefore she is right. So I started thinking, is she really praying to God? I know God is not the one answering her prayers, since God does not contradict himself. Who would she be praying to or who would be answering her prayers? I’m really confused on how to talk to her. Any thoughts and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Question. Is this person Christian, Jewish, Muslim, or any other religion that believes in God? And how important is this person in your life? Is she a close relative, or just someone you happen to know casually?

As a Catholic I pray to God also. It’s just that He doesn’t have me on speed dial when answering my prayers. This woman may have a better connection than I do, but somehow, I doubt it. It is my experience that God doesn’t quite work that way. And to be honest, I don’t think this person can be answered in any way that will satisfy her. My take is that in the end, the one person you have to satisfy with any answer to her statement, is yourself.

This is a very close friend who happens to be a non-denominational Christian
 
She is praying to God, but that doesn’t mean the next “inspiration” that pops into her head is from God. The answer to her prayer may be you showing her how becoming Catholic has inflamed you with divine love 🙂
