I volunteer at a no-kill animal shelter. One of the new residents freaked out and escaped into the ceiling! He’s been in the ceiling since Sunday morning and hasn’t come down or out yet. No one has seen him. Please pray that Alex (a cat) is returned to his anxious handlers. All I can do is pray that he’s okay and will eventually come down on his own.

The intercession of St Francis of Assisi is often invoked regarding animals.
Lord please ensure that Alex’s anxious handlers will have the joy of finding the little creature soon and be able to give him the care he needs.

Poor kitty! He must be so scared!

Saint Fancis, please pray for this cat that he may be brought safely back to the ground.

Don’t worry, cats have a unique talent for self preservation. When it gets hungry enough-hungry enough to eat a peanut butter sandwich, it will come out of its hidey hole.
All anyone has to do is to put an open can of tuna in a cat cage, and within a couple of days the cat will enter the cage on its own. Your vet could even put a cat sedative into the tuna so the cat will fall asleep in the cage.

Yes, St. Francis comes to mind. Although once, when a cat we had when I was a teenager went up a tree and refused to come down, I prayed for St. Florian’s intercession (the patron saint of firefighters.) Yeah, we had the fire department in to get kitty out of the tree, and he took a few clawed swipes at the poor fireman who went up in the bucket to retrieve him. A lot of very unholy language came out of the branches! I don’t think St. Florian would have approved of that, but I thanked the saint (and the fireman) who enacted my cat’s rescue.

And yes, a can of tuna works, but you have to have an alert person around at all times to nab the cat when he finally emerges. If there are some mice or other critters in the ceiling, the cat may be perfectly content to stay where he is for a bit.

I’ll say a prayer to St. Francis, and to Julian of Norwich tonight, on the cat’s behalf. Good luck!

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, AMEN.

St. Francis of Assisi, please pray for Alex.
St. Gertrude of Nivelles, please pray for Alex.

Memorare (Prayer to Our Lady)
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer me. Amen

Praying for Alex to come down so that he can be properly cared for by his handlers.

Still praying for that cat!

St. Francis, please pray that this cat returns to safety.

OP: Did kitty come out from the ceiling yet?

I haven’t heard anything different than what I’ve been told! I do know that we have access to a camera snake that maybe we can use to put into the ceiling to locate Alex. Maybe that will help relieve our fears if we can see him.

Hopefully he’s eating the canned food we’re using to lure him back!

Thank you so much for your prayers Angelsflight, Janefromengland, tbcrawford, Seira, odile53, MS SURVEYOR, George Stegmeir and TriciaF. I thank God for your kindness to pray for Alex and us handlers!

Please continue to pray. I’ve been asking St. Francis’ intercession as well. I know we’re going to keep trying!

Ok, you cant leave us hanging now! Did he come out yet?

Still praying for him…

Thank you Jesus and all the saints for interceding on Alex’s behalf! Alex was found on Sunday! I just was told today though!

Thank you prayer warriors!

Alex was found inside a wall. The wall panel was removed and he came right out. He ate right away and he got some fluids. He was trapped for a week, but he’s alive, and he’s back home with his foster mom and doing well!

When I heard the news I went to church and before praying the rosary I thanked Jesus!

So many people are relieved that he’s okay! Thank you Mary, Mother of God, for your watchful eye as well!

Yes! 👍👍👍

I just love a happy ending!

Thank You St. Francis!
Thank You Jesus!

I pray now that the kitty has a long, happy life with his new family.

He might come back to the shelter because foster mom is overwhelmed with other charges. He’s there right now because he needs to wind down from his ordeal, but hopefully he’ll find a forever home soon! He’s a special case in our shelter as he his FIV or FeLV (not sure which) and has a suppressed immune system.

It’s very good for him not to be trapped anymore. Hopefully the ordeal will not have any long term effects on his health. He can still have a happy and long life with the right care.

May the extra prayers for Alex while I didn’t know be used to place him in a forever home and protect him from illness!

Thanks again prayer warriors!

Aww … poor little guy! I didn’t know he had an illness too.

St. Francis, please pray that this poor kitty be healed of his afflictions.

St. Damien, please pray that he find a permanent home soon.

Thanks for the update. Keep us posted! 👍
