I know we’re not supposed to believe in dreams and stuff and I don’t normally believe dreams can mean anything but I was wondering about this a bit. It might just be my head making stuff up but I thought I’d ask. One of our classmates has passed away recently (he was only 16 and died about a week ago). I’ve been praying for him and on Sunday I attempted to gain a plenary indulgence for him. I felt a bit discouraged about it but not particularly much. That night I had a dream in which I was in Purgatory. You know how dreams don’t really make sense right? Ok so for some reason there was this lady and I asked her something like “Was Charlie in here?” and she said “Yes.” and I asked, “Did he get out and if so when?” she said, “Yes, this November”. Is that potentially a sign that the plenary indulgence I attempted to gain was gained or was my mind probably simply thinking about that topic and that is why I dreamt it up? I tend to lean on the second option but I thought to ask wouldn’t hurt.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend.

Dreams are just dreams.

dreammoods.com is a good site that can help one figure out meanings

It could mean something. I’ve dreamt of deceased people and I interpret it as they need prayers. Keep praying! It couldn’t hurt.

Talk to God about your dream. It wouldn’t hurt to pray more for Charlie too, because even if Charlie got out, the prayers go to help somebody else.

I have had several dreams concerning deceased situations. One can never be absolutely sure of the meaning, but I do feel that some dreams can signify or communicate something. I pray over them.

edited to add, there are a number of saints who have had dreams that conveyed particular meanings to them, so I am not just making this up out of some new age floof.
