A.E. Breen is a Catholic Theologian who wrote several books, most notably in my opinion, A General Introduction to Holy Scripture (1903). Information on this person is very limited on the internet, though I was able to gather he was an “important Catholic theologian” from one page, and from my reading of the aforementioned book.

There is no Wikipedia, no Catholic Encyclopedia entry. I can’t figure out what “A.E.” stands for.

I’m posting this to request detailed information from those who know, so either I or someone else can begin a Wiki article on this man, and perpetuate him into the digital age a little more than has been done thus far.

I’m hoping someone like a seminarian or priest or apologist has a bit more information on this man (place of birth, full name, some references in other writings by other authors) that I can run with here.

Update: Apparently he was involved in the Catholic Encyclopedia, a citation for which reads:

BREEN, A. E., D.D., PH.D., PROFESSOR OF HOLY SCRIPTURE, ST. BERNARD’S SEMINARY, ROCHESTER, NEW YORK.
 
I used genealogy records to assemble most of the following (thanks to those who provide dates).

Rev. A.E. (Andrew Edward) Breen D.D, PH.D. (June 15, 1863 - Sep. 10, 1938) was an American Catholic Priest, theologian and author. Rev. Breen was born in Amitz, NY to David and Ellen Breen. He had an older brother, John Breen who was six years old at the time of Andrew’s birth.[1] Rev. Breen was ordained in Rome, May 27, 1923. He was Professor of Holy Scripture at Saint Bernard’s Seminary, Rochester New York and at St Francis Seminary, St Francis, Wisconsin, USA. He is buried in Saint Francis Seminary Woods Cemetery, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, USA[2].

My article submission to Wikipedia has been denied, citing “insignificant coverage” of the subject. So until someone can reference other sources for information on the man, he may be lost to history.
