I met with the Deacon today. We had a conversation and I have decided not to continue. Plan B???

Admiting something you struggle with to the priest, or admitting anything, or even saying anything, is not part of the scrutinies. It sounds like something your priest made up.
Ok… could you be a little more helpful and maybe expand on that?

Your sins will be forgiven when you are Baptized.

What what are you not continuing?

Have you given up preparing for your sacraments of initiation, or just within that particular parish, where it seems you’ve not being fully informed?

I have been Baptized…that was my concern. The Deacon suggested I was beginning to sound like an “ultra right wing conservative Catholic” which sort of stopped me in my tracks. Time for some humility on my part methinks and a period of reflection.

This response has really been bugging me, since it was so terse and didn’t offer any explanation or source. So I looked it up to benefit myself and the original poster.

stisidore-yubacity.org/faqscrutinies.htm seems to describe it most accurately, but I can’t find any specific instructions on how they’re to be celebrated.

Oh . My .!

What are they doing with your RCIA group? So, this service is being considered everyone’s confession?

Wow … some of my thoughts … #1 you could go to shrine or somewhere else, tell the priest that this is your first confession and at the parish you are going to be confirmed at is not allowing you to make a face to face confession #2 you could write the local diocese or rather call them and ask #3 find a whole other parish to talk to.

This is not good.

It’s ok now. things have moved on…see my post “I guess this is the wilderness”. Everything is back on track and I’m to meet with the priest this coming Tuesday at 12.00 noon GMT for a first Confession.

I think that I have made such a huge deal about Confession ever since I turned up at the church that everyone believes I have something horrendous to confess. I think I do but am starting to realise that it’s not as huge as everyone has come to expect. i think the priest was trying to be kind to me?
