I think that the fact that they are sleeping together, the fact that she is on the pill are not the issues. They are the symptoms of a bigger issue. I would not waste my time talking about lust when the bigger issue is the choice of being away from the Church because of sloth.

The issue of impurity probably has more to do with your issues than with his. Why is it such a hot topic while the other stuff is not?

If you really care about him start with the basics. Do not go deep on one topic and neglect the others. It will be counterproductive because it will just be a point of contention in an argument without basis.

Well… I am distraught that he doesn’t attend Church anymore, but this thread is based on this particular sin - so its no wonder that I am excluding other sins or potential things considering what this thread is about… That would be like telling Jason Evert to concentrate on other things.

In any case, it is not my issue as you so eloquently put it. I think its everybody’s issue. Sexual immorality I believe is the biggest challenge facing people of all ages today. It is a hot topic because it is a hot topic, im not seeing your thought pattern here. There may be other topics, but this is the one I am most concerned about, because this is the one that is most damaging to him in the long run that is causing him to be seperated from God on a daily basis. Because no matter your faith or beliefs, I think purity can still apply to you.

I understand however when you say start with the basics. Well, I don’t think there is any other place to start. I can’t just dive in and say all that I am thinking.
You tell me to start with the basics, but further up you say its a bigger issue that I must deal with first? Which one is it, big or smaller issue? For me there is no seperation. It is easier for me to tell him about lust and its dangers than to try bring him back to the Church and answer a million questions he might have.

Sloth and Lust are both deadly sins. You think Sloth is the problem, here, I know lust is a problem.

I commend you for caring enough about him to want the best for him.

I hope he will get to the point where he holds himself to a higher standard.
