This should possibly be in the section ‘‘prayer intentions’’ because it would be good if you prayed for this girl (young woman) and her child. Anyway, I heard today that a friend of mine had an abortion not long ago. 😦 So what I wanted to say was please pray for her and her child and possibly give some advice to me. I don’t think I should bring it up, it is a touchy subject and she seems a bit upset about it even though she says she doesn’t regret it. But if she brings it up, what should I do? She knows that I am Catholic and that I am prolife and against abortion. I personally thought to just say that what she did was wrong but I don’t judge her and also that I feel sorry for her. Again, if SHE brings it up and it is possible that she won’t talk to me about it since I am not her closest friend and she knows my opinion about the subject. Might be important to mention that she isn’t Catholic. I am thankful for any advice to me or any prayers for them.

On a less serious note I hope my English is ok, been some time since I last wrote in English but I feel confident that you understand it even though there might be something wrong or it just doesn’t look good.

But if she brings it up, what should I do?
You should be knowledgeable and armed with the facts about post abortion syndrome (PAS). Heritage House has brochures you can order:

Secondly, search in your area and find out if Rachel’s Vineyard, Project Rachel or another post-abortion ministry operates nearby. Your diocese may have information on their pro-life ministry website, or you can go to the Project Rachel or Rachel’s Vineyard sites to query.

Know where, when, and how she can connect with post-abortion healing ministries. She may not be ready for years, but someday she will be.

I do not recommend that approach with a post-abortive woman.

The above resources are not for Catholics only. They are for all post abortive women.

Your English is just fine. Some of the post-abortion ministries are international.

Best of luck to you. And God bless you for caring about this woman.

Read Pope St. John Paul II’s encyclical Evangelium Vitae (“The Gospel of Life”) - in it, he speaks of the desperate situations that can cause women to feel pressured to abort. I would advise if the topic comes up, first just listen and maybe ask if she felt some of those pressures. Let her get it out and grieve if she needs to. I would do that first before giving literature about the ministries to her - not that that isn’t a good idea, but it might not register or she might even reject it at first if she has emotions that she needs to process. Just my thoughts as a woman who has known friends with unplanned pregnancies and the various actions they took, and some did abort and were able to go through the Project Rachel later on but sometimes it took awhile for God to work in their hearts.

I don’t have any advice, just wanted to say I am praying for your friend…
