The irony is that, in trying to make the Church palatable to everyone’s tastes, they only make it more irrelevant. Those whom they are trying to reach will not conclude that the Church is a wonderful place, but that it is an unnecessary place. For if sin is a minor matter, there is no need for the Church and the graces it confers.
