A Growing Number of Catholic Schools Are Shutting Down Forever

It is a shame we can’t direct a portion of our taxes to support the school of our choosing, that is what they have in Canada.

Yes. And Catholic schools here are doing fine, I even have coworkers who are Hindu but send their children to Catholic schools because of the reputation of a better education than in public schools.

In Canada you direct your portion of taxes to whatever school you want: Catholic, private, Lutheran, public, whatever you choose.

It’s often forgotten that there are other schools in Canadian provinces that aren’t part of the secular boards that also receive taxpayers’ money. These separate schools are religious (including non-Christian), others aren’t. It depends on the province since education is a purely provincial matter with no intervention from the federal government. Some provinces fund private schools, others don’t.
