Unfortunately, you will see that said on many threads here on CAF as well.In the U.S., kids hear from an early age that
- they should go to college out of state and get away from friends and parents
- it’s good to move away from their hometown, and pursue the bright lights and big city
- get a job as soon as you have a license
- move out of mom and dad’s house at 18. Not their home,. Mom and dad’s house.
This all goes back to one of the first things that God said in Genesis after He finished creating the universe: “It is not good for the man to be alone”. He then made an opposite-gender spouse and told them to be fruitful and multiply. So we see that humanity was not built to be alone (with the exception of those that God gave the graces for a lifelong celibate vocation). I think forgetting this simple basic fact is a root of a good portion (if not most) of the social woes we are facing.I keep seeing these images of people who go postal. They all look miserable. They’re all loners. They all feel ALONE. They pretty much are alone to their thoughts. Who’s going to check them? Who’s going to say “hey dude, that’s just wrong-thinking”.
No one. No one is engaging them on any level. People become odd when they are isolated.
