Our parish has been made recipient of a statue of the Blessed Mother holding Infant Jesus in a most providential way.
years ago in the early 70s, when the parish went through a lurching iconoclastic phase, they divested of most statuary and old school trappings.
a fellow took a certain statue home, died, passed it on, and around the town/family/community it went. till it landed at a garage sale, price tag, $20.
unbelievable. the statue, which needs only moderate repair is 4 feet tall.
at the yard sale, it was purchased by a fellow who recognised it from his childhood and returned to the parish from which it came-- 35 years later.
we have a restoration team, but are uncertain to her exact title.
i think this will be easy for you:
she is dressed in blue and white cloak with veil. the top of her head is flat as there once was a crown, which is now gone. she is holding Infant Jesus upright on her left hand. the infant Jesus was clearly holding a globe, though the globe is no longer there. both Mother and Child have a slight downcast gaze.
there is no crown on the Infant Jesus nor is there any indication He had one. he is dressed very simply in a white tunic.
I believe:
*she is not OL Mt. Carmel as the Infant Jesus was holding a globe, not the brown scapular.
*she’s not OL Victory as Infant Jesus is holding the globe, not resting his foot on one.
*her head is not tilted toward His, so no OL Good Counsel or Perpetual Help.
so…
which Marian title is she?
what sort of crown does this title typically wear?
can you send a photo link?
so many thanks.
