A good friend of mine was raised Episcopalian(sp); non-practicing anymore. I recall some time back that he mentioned his belief/opinion on and God and the devil. Even then I thought it was weird, but now I think he’s off his block(if he still believes this). See he said he thought the two were more like neutral adversaries, and that each one would say to each other hey I got 100 souls today how many did you get? I really hope he doesn’t have this outlook anymore.

I don’t think the Episcopal Church does either. Perhaps it was just him. As a former Episcopalian, I can’t believe I ever heard that.

Oh, I didn’t think it was Episcopalian. I think it was just his own belief.

BTW, we do know that Jesus collects more, right? God always prevails

Then presumably your friend doesn’t care which “neutral adversary” gets his soul, right?

I certainly don’t know that and my understanding is that Many are called and few answer.
I think the devil probably does indeed get more quantity, But Jesus gets better quality

Yes God always prevails

I know that, before I really got a solid foundation in what the Church teaches, my beliefs regarding God and the spiritual realm were changing all the time. It’s possible he no longer believes this.

If he does still believe it, you might ask him if it matters to him which of these two “neutral adversaries” gets his soul. If it does, then ask him what he is doing about it to make sure that his soul goes to God. If it does not matter, then ask him why it does not, as heaven and hell seem like two very different places.

In any case, I wouldn’t lead into the conversation by calling him a “heretic”. 😉
