A Hidden (yet very well attended) gem at World Youth Day was organised by the FSSP and Juventutem, a Solemn Pontifical Mass Celebrated by the Archbishop of Toulouse, roughly attended by 1500 pilgrims from Juventutem and other groups (personally I attended with 2 others from the Archdiocese of Birmingham, UK), the Mass setting used by Palestrinas Missa Brevis, with Credo 3 employed for the creed, the Deacon was the Superior General of the FSSP in England and Wales, and the Subdeacon was from the ICRSS, with many other priests in choir, and servers from all over the world.

The EF of the Mass and Sacraments were employed throughout Madrid by various groups, but this hidden gem was truly spectacular, I shall attempt to upload any pictures I have from the Mass in the coming days, but for now I need my rest!

wow, that is very interesting, and I did not know that 🙂 thanks for sharing!

God bless

Wonderful! 🙂

Sounds amazing. I’ve read about it on Rorate Caeli blog. I’d love to see the photos.

There may be, but I’m unsure what the title would be, as it was attended by many from across the world, from England, France, USA and other places, I think i have a small bit of the chanted Epistle, but my camera is playing up (:

I never understood why some people complain so much about what happens at Masses, yet they have no problem with people recording a Mass.

There are two videos of a WYD pontifical Mass at the bottom of this NLM post – maybe Skeptic92 can tell us if this is the one he attended? The celebrant is (it says) H.E. Dominique Rey, Bishop of Fréjus-Toulon, not the Archbishop of Toulouse, H.E. Robert Jean Louis Le Gall, O.S.B.

Unfortunately it was not the one I attended, while it was the same Church, I can tell by the level of attendence (there was standing room only at the Mass I attended, and the celebrant was definitely the Archbishop of Toulouse, as I got a chance to speak to him, and he definitely said Toulouse was his diocese) is vastly different, it appears that it was likely earlier in the week that that mass was celebrated, while the one I attended was celebrated on Friday (:.
