In the liturgical calendar for 2014, where Mass is celebrated in the Ordinary Form, November 1st, All Saints Day, will not be a holy day of obligation.
However, for the churches where the Latin Mass is celebrated, will All Saints Day be a holy day of obligation?

Holy Days of Obligation are not contingent upon which form of the Mass you attend.

HDO are a matter of universal and particular canon law. Every Latin Rite Catholic is under the 1983 code and the particular laws approved by the Holy See for various countries.

In the US, November 1 is not a HDO because it falls on a Saturday this year.

No, because this is not an issue of Ordinary Form vs. Extraordinary Form.

This is the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops receiving dispensation from the Vatican to allow certain Holy Days to be abrogated if on Saturdays or Mondays.

Actually it is not really the day that is abrogated. November 1st is still All Saints Day and is still celebrated as a solemnity when it falls on a Saturday or a Monday. It is the obligation to attend Mass that is abrogated.

Yes, that’s what I meant. The obligation is abrogated. Thank you for making my answer more clear.

Wow, I had no idea about this at all.

While I’m still going to attend Mass this Saturday, you guys are awesome for sharing this information with us. 🙂

Oh, didn’t realize it wasn’t a HDO. Probably going to Saturday vigil though…
