Thank you for your replies. See, the issue lies such that my parents and the parish priest know each other well and my brother is also an altar boy :confused:
That should actually make the issue easier. Tell your parents first (one or both of them). They are responsible for your brother and will take the next steps. We cannot confess another’s sins, so this is not an issue for your own confession.

Why don’t you talk to your parents and before telling them ask them to promise you that should they confront your brother they will not tell him where it came from.

Maybe they can “find” his condoms, or confront him and tell him they suspect, or say a school official heard rumors and told them.

Are your parents the kinds of people who would protect you as the source? My thought would be that they’d understand that it’s important your brother doesn’t find out you were the one who told.

As for whether you should tell, 13 is so young, if someone that young is having sex I would worry they had been sexually abused. Is it common for 13 year old boys to want to have sex?

Here are some reasons you need to tell your priest/parents(in no order of importance):
  1. Your brother is 13 - depending on the state he is either the vicitm of mortal sin or pedophilia - whether the perpetrator is 16 or 40 wouldn’t you want a child abuser caught - isn’t there enough scandal right now because enough people kept their mouths shut about this type of behavior?
  2. Someone acting out sexually at a young age can be indicative of abuse - just because you have not been abused does not mean that your brother has not by someone he has been contact with at school or somewhere else. He may be acting this way if the current situation is consentual with another child his age due to abuse and the only way he will get help is if someone stands up and says something.
  3. There is a second person involved as one can usually not be sexually active on their own who might have told no one who might only be able to get help if you say something and your brother says something to your parents or your priest
  4. Your are complicit in the sin until you do
  5. Your brother is further compounding mortal sin by standing on the altar as an altar server and taking Eucharist in a State of Mortal Sin - Your Priest needs to know right away as the Eucharist is being desecrated
God Bless you for your moral courage.
