I see a lot of threads about marital problems, and my heart goes out to any couples struggling. Jesus, Mary, and Joseph be with you, comfort you, help you, and guide you to make the right choices and love.

In contrast, I’d like to take a moment to confess my love for my wife. When we first married, I didn’t know what love was, but through her example, her prayers, and most of all her love, I was eventually brought face to face with Love Himself. I came to understand my identity as a child of my Father, made in His image, and made to love as he’d designed me. And then I understood my identity as husband and lover. I thank God every day for my wife.

She is peerless. My heart is in her breast, and hers in mine. The great labor of her love being complete, she rests now in my love, in perfect trust and confidence. She floats on the ocean of my love, and I cradle her. She calls me the sun of her sky, and I’ll not deny her my light and warmth. I shine for her. My warmth is all for her. She is my garden, closed up, her beauty opened only by me. She is my jewel, my fountain, my all. There is no life for me apart from her.

She is my darling wife, my soul’s love.

I write this to encourage all married couples. True love exists, but it doesn’t fall in your lap. It must be fought for. Marriage is a vocation, which means its purpose is to help each other get to Heaven. So of course it will be attacked. Of course our cold, ruthless Enemy will attempt to destroy it.

Turn to each other in those times. Cling to your helpmate, the one designed to assist you and encourage you in your Christian race. Love is neither a fancy nor a feeling. It’s an action. Love. Do love, and the feelings will follow.

My wife and I are one in all ways, so our love, being holy, is constantly attacked. But our love is stronger. Love Himself is stronger.

Please pray for us, and I will pray for you all.

Thank you so much for this beautiful testament of the sacrament of Matrimony. May you have many more wonderful years to live your vocation. God bless.

Thank you. This brought tears to my eyes. How beautifully true and beautifully stated! May God bless you and your wife. 🙂

My Brother, your words are beautiful and true. My beloved saved not only my life, but my soul.

Do not ask me to abandon or forsake you!
For wherever you go I will go,
wherever you lodge I will lodge,
your people shall be my people,
and your God, my God.
Wherever you die I will die,
and there be buried.
May the Lord punish me severely
if I allow anything but death
to separate us.
Ruth 1:16-17

That was incredibly beautiful… Thank you for sharing ❤️ I will pray for you, your wife and all couples. God bless!

That is very beautiful indeed! It’s most refreshing to see as well. You are truly blessed. May God Bless You Both!

Peace, Mark

Awesome! I pray one day I am blessed to take part in such a holy marriage with so holy a wife!

Thank you, everyone!

It’s natural to post things online only when you’re having trouble or have a question. I’d like to see more threads of praise and love and celebration.

Thanks! I thank God every day for the capacity He’s given me to love my wife.

Just a follow-up, something positive I hope other members can take away from these largely negative forums… 🙂

The female human heart is a marvelous creation. God created woman with the free rights to keep her heart or bestow it upon any man she chooses. The female heart is so beautiful, so precious, sealed up for her husband alone. She may choose any man she wants, give her heart to the greatest of men or the least, and upon consideration of this truth of women, all men should stand in awe of their right. I love my wife, but as my love grows for her, truths begin to unfold to me. Like this one. My wife’s heart is beautiful like a sealed fountain within a garden. And she’s given her heart to me. How then should I respond? How should any man respond to freely-given love from a woman? With awe. With gratitude. And above all, with love. I thank my wife for loving me, for entrusting her heart to me. Why me? Why do I get to enjoy such a beautiful thing–such a beautiful person? It’s as if I won the Lottery.

I see so many men around me–my friends and coworkers and whatnot–who think they’re doing women a favor by deigning to date or marry them. They make all these ungodly (the real meaning of “ungodly”) demands upon their wives/girlfriends, and they have no idea what gift they’re being offered.

I will never take my wife for granted; I will never live a day without thanksgiving first to God and then to her. I will never stop loving her.

Thank you so much for sharing that with your CAF friends. Just beautiful. Especially now when our Catholic understanding of marriage and its true beauty and vocation are not understood and appreciated as a gift from God.
My husband and I have been married 36 years and as each day passes I have more reason to thank God for our life together. Marriage should be and hopefully will be a blessing.

Demetra,

Thank you for taking the time to read.

This isn’t directed at you, Demetra, or anyone in particular; it’s just a thought that popped into my mind. I hope no one thinks I’m just on here peacocking or whatever. The reason I post here is because (1) I love my wife, (2) I want to see a positive thread on CAF, (3) I want people to see that there is true love and true marriage out there, and (4) I want to show how it works. I guess another reason is because of all my friends recently confessing to me that our marriage is a model to them and that they look at us as the only example of a healthy marriage they’ve ever seen.

Anyway, Demetra, I can’t wait until I’ve been married 23 years, because that will mean I’ve been married more than half my life. 🙂
