A job thats against Catholic Teaching

I am curious, is working for a Singles/Dating text line considerded a sin? I was currently fired from a job and I got this job as a source of income from the internet to help support my family. I don’t do it for lustful reasons or anything, and it is all texting and just to support my family. What position am I in?

I would say it was depending on exactly what they do. Is it for couples to hook up and have sex specifically? Or is it just a dating service? I would say that if it’s a dating service you’d be fine. Yeah, some people may abuse it, but maybe some couples are meeting and getting married through it.

Although I guess I am not one to talk. I am working for a company as a secretary, and a small small infintesimal part of the job is giving out advertising for the company to the customers through calendars. Scenes from the wild west, animals, fish and game, biker/topless girls…

I never give them out unless the guys ask (or tell them they exist unless they ask), and usually my boss steps in to give them to the guys because a few asked me if I was in them…22 year old girls and construction workers are an interesting mix…lol

I guess my best advice is to not do anything specifically immoral or go out of your way to help someone do something moral. Just like I don’t offer topless calendars…yeah…

Doesn’t sound like there is anything wrong with it to me. If the purpose of the company is not lustful/sexual, then you are not responsible for the behavior of some people who use your company’s services. Just my two cents.

Well then there isn’t anything wrong with it at all. It’s their choice to do that.

Just a quick thought… What does YOUR conscience tell you? If you have the slightest notion that what you are doing is immoral, then follow your conscience. Often times we ignore our first thoughts or we allow ourselves to reason the thought away. Pray very hard and listen. God will lead you down the right path if you listen without trying to think on your own.
