A key question to ask when dealing with abortion

I’m hugging all of you. Seriously - right now. You just don’t know it. It’s a cyber hug!

There is so much sadness on this thread. On all parts.

Ribozyme: I’m so sorry you feel that way. I watched the anime and looked at your signature. I can understand why you would: it’s hard to have hope when you feel so much pain and see so much pain around you. I wish I could give you a hug. It’ll get better.

The rest of you: Jesus loves you all. And He loves the babies, aborted or not. Aborting them would make him sad - and it’s our job to console him, not upset him more. So no abortion, no matter what the rationale, and we can sure come up with some good ones with our limited reason (or some that look good to our limited reason).

Um …

So what if I do not like “life?” “Life” means plenty of poverty and suffering and I do not see anything inherently good about it.
Furthers the irony that the thread you authored turns out to be a strong argument in support of life.
The remark in my signature is what I want you to translate. I think it was mentioned about 3:20 in that clip (which was subtitled). Anyone want to attempt to translate it (using the subtitles)?
Your signature is pertinent to the thread to such a degree that you need it translated?
Is it possible to be more obscure?

I know the translation to it.

Here was the original post I was responding to when I suggested to watch that particular clip:
One women said that though she loved her foster children, it would be better for them if they “didn’t exist” - because their parents were on drugs, they’d been abused, etc.
That’s when I really knew, deep down, that abortion and contraception are wrong. I can’t imagine the depths of sadness it would take to actually wish that children - children you see everyday - didn’t exist.
I then responded:
Well, if you want to understand me and how I view the world (and possibly myself), I’ll help you.
Do these things sequentially (of course, there is really a point to this):
Watch this (starting at 2:40 through 5:35)
look at my current signature
and watch it again and pay close attentionh
Now read this page:

I really empathize with that character.

Clearly the topic at hand is not the one you wish to discuss.

You may want to start a new thread concerning signatures and the meanings contained behind them.

You also may well benefit from reading up on the conversion of Saul.

So, ribozyme, what’s all the suffering about? You’ve dangled the carrot, and now the donkeys are chomping at it. There’s no backing away now. Be responsible for the ripple you made in the water.

PS: I identify with Dorothy Parker. How about you, vz71? Who manifests all of your angst?

Is there no character, writer, artist, composer who puts a voice to your frustrations, your fears, your anger? Certainly you must have been inspired by a saint or two along the way. If not, then I’m sorry for your loss. Thanks for playing.

That didn’t make any sense to me

Robertsxxx et al,

Did you watch the video that ribozyme suggested? I think that might explain my question. She says she empathizes with the character portrayed therein. I say I’m inspired by/empathize with Dorothy Parker. My question was to vz71 to see what inspired that poster.

Too hard a question. Outside the lines. Profound apologies to all.

Wow, just read this thread after searching through ribozyme’s posts to find out what sort of poster he/she (probably “he”) is.

Do we all agree he’s a huge idiot and a drama queen?

O.K., good.

Wow… so after going through threir entire thread the best argument you could come up with was a personal attack?

You sure “won” me over.

True; that was stupid of me.
“Personal attacks” - at least the way I approached it - generally don’t solve anything.
Sorry about that.

When considering the consequences of aborting a fetus, I think we should ask ourselves whether do we want to live the life of the fetus that would be aborted. I think this would help us put into perspective the consequences of abortion.

In other words, let’s ask ourselves if we want to be reincarnated with the life of that fetus that would be aborted.
Hmmm…

“I am a young teenager pregnant for the first time. With Ribozyme’s gift of foreknowledge, I can see that my child will spend much of his young adult years homeless. Then, while still a young man, he will be brutally tortured and murdered. With that knowledge, should I consider abortion?”

I use my own words and actions to describe my feelings.
Why rely on one dimensional fictional characters?

It would seem to me that using such a shallow piece to identify your feelings is both unimaginative and unhealthy.

As for drawing inspiration from Saints, great idea. But that is not what the original poster appears to be doing.

I use my own words and actions to describe my feelings. Have you never used a quotation from a pope, a prayer, a newspaper or magazine? Have you never found a statement uttered by another person that expresses your thoughts and feelings so succinctly, so accurately, with such pointedness and passion that you “couldn’t have said it better”?Why rely on one dimensional fictional characters? I have trouble believing that the original poster is relying solely on this cartoon character to give her a voice.

It would seem to me that using such a shallow piece to identify your feelings is both unimaginative and unhealthy. Finding a connectedness with a harmless animated thing is neither unhealthy nor unusual. You deem it to be shallow; she apparently finds meaning in it. Why does the fact that she is drawn to this compel you to make these judgments?

As for drawing inspiration from Saints, great idea. But that is not what the original poster appears to be doing. My question to you was: what are **you **doing?

Hi, I’m new here. Question: is the above quotation representative of the overall attitude on Catholic Answers Forum? It doesn’t really seem all that … Christian.

You are not new here, Marietta, only your handle is.
