im hear to clear up a little bit of misinformation about wicca. during its time on earth, it has gone by many names, paegan as one of them. it is the oldest religion in the world, and is also the “base” religion, where the others spawnd from. a little known fact is why chatholics are made to hate it. during the young age of the catholics, the leaders wanted to get more people into it. they told the world that if they did not belive in god and jesus, the wicca would destroy them by word of the devil. the truth is, wicca split in to 2 parts. we have the original good wicca, and the evil warped satanists that worship the devil. the satanists belives the catholics and created there own religion, thinking it was wicca, they were wrong. wicca is the religion of the earth. it belives all things are equal, and the god and goddes refer to the seasons, mother nature and farther time. im not putting your religion down, but due to the old crooked religion laders (some of them were, you cant deny)you were all brainwashed into thinking wicca is evil.

Also massively popular with teenagers desperately trying to be different.

well, those people are just being stupid most of the time. try talking to someone who is serios about it

First off, I have read that there is little historical evidence for Wicca. It seems to be a relatively new phenomenon as it is seen it its present form.

Second, historically, Christians believe in a Creator God Who is the Father of all. Christianity comes from the ancient Jewish religion originating with the revelation to Abraham of the One God. God changed Abram’s name, which meant “high father” to Abraham, meaning “father of nations”.

Long before Christianity, Deuteronomy 18:10-12, says: “Let there not be found among you anyone who immolates his son or daughter in the fire, nor a fortune-teller, soothsayer, charmer, diviner or caster of spells, nor one who consults ghosts and spirits or seeks oracles from the dead. Anyone who does such things is an abomination to the Lord.”

Not only is practicing Wicca a violation of the first commandment — “You shall have no gods before me” — but dabbling in the occult can also lead to physical as well as spiritual harm.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church states, “All practices of magic or sorcery, by which one attempts to tame occult powers, so as to place them at one’s service and have a supernatural power over others — even if this were for the sake of restoring their health — are gravely contrary to the virtue of religion” (No. 2117).

A study of the Old Testament shows us very clearly the type and nature of the religions that were around in the past. Archeological evidence also confirms what they were like.

Where can you show us evidence than what you describe Wicca to be is not a myth?
Gerald Gardner (1884-1965), a Freemason, is credited with founding the Wiccan religion, which is composed mostly of converts who came into the “craft” since the early 1960s. The entire movement in fact, is not ancient at all but very new. The Encyclopedia of American Religions states that “rather than being initiated into a pre-existing Wiccan religion, it appears that Gardner created the new religion out of numerous pieces of Eastern religions and Western occult and magical material.” - Satanism, Witchcraft and Church Feminists
Gerald Gardner was apparently an associate of Satanism’s Aleister Crowley who coined the phrase, * “Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law.”*

Most people who are serious about studying these things fully understand that the underlying code of Wicca is not “evil” but rather naturalistic.

You have an interesting view of early Christianity. It was not Christianity that objected to nature worship but the religion from which Christianity sprag: Judaism.

Christianity has historical records going back to the first century. Pony up your paper trail, and we’ll compare notes on brainwashing.

Wiccans will tell you that the supposed “origin” of “the craft” in 1951 is an artifact of the repeal in that of laws in England that made witchcraft illegal. They claim that the craft is truly ancient.

There’s a Trail of Blood kind of reasoning going on here.

Anything that leads someone away from Christ’s One True Faith is evil.

Um. Nope. Not true.

Um. Nope. Also not true.

Your information is quite faulty. Natural law was the “base religion” between Adam and God’s first “discussion” with whomever that was that He spoke to next, and ALL that is good, and not evil, that is within “old paganism” (as opposed to the contrivance known as neo-paganism) is from God’s gift of Natural Law.

Old paganism, as practiced by all of humanity not specifically chosen by God, was not evil except in those things that we can now identify as evil in contrast to Christian morals, and which could have been identified as evil by the humble pagan from his knowledge of natural law.

Neo-paganism is simply a counter-revolution (revolt) specifically against Christianity,… and is composed of specifically anti-Christian “items”.

Neo-paganism is polytheist precisely so that those whom it influences can be have “their own” god, which ca be used by neo-pagan “leaders” to battle against their enemies.

The Church (Catholic) is specifically constituted to unite ALL people under the ONE God, who has NO PEERS, and is not “opposed” to anything of His like, but only opposed to that which is not from Himself.

In other words, gods divide people into waring factions OF people, while God unites people against the only real opponent, which is sin, or “choice of things other than God”.
the truth is, wicca split in to 2 parts. we have the original good wicca, and the evil warped satanists that worship the devil.
The “good wicca” is neo-paganism.

Neo-paganism is not good, but at best “silly”.

There are very few true pagans left on this planet, and they are to be taken for what they are, which is exemplified in their behavior as regards following natural law.
the satanists belives the catholics and created there own religion, thinking it was wicca, they were wrong. wicca is the religion of the earth.
Wicca is the religion of “wanna be old pagans”, at best, and the religion of slave masters of the gullible otherwise.
it belives all things are equal, and the god and goddes refer to the seasons, mother nature and farther time. im not putting your religion down, but due to the old crooked religion laders (some of them were, you cant deny)you were all brainwashed into thinking wicca is evil.
Wicca is not evil. It is used for evil.

I think that the OP has a problem finding the spell checker.🙂

Actually, Wicca began with Gerald Gardner in the 1950’s. He synthesized and amalgamated many different occultic and surviving pagan traditions into his books, Witchcraft Today and The Meaning of Witchcraft.

As far as being the “Base” religion, I have heard that claim before, but doubt it is authentic.

And, having spoken to some Wiccans, Theosophist, and pagans, I can say that some of them do not believe that all things are equal. They tend to believe in the Wiccan Rede, the Three-fold Law, and the different aspects of the goddess.

But Wiccan and neopagan beliefs are as diverse as the practitioners. Each person will have a different take on each element of Wicca.

  1. There is little historical evidence, if any at all, that I can see.
  2. If there was any truth in their claims as to it’s antiquity, why don’t they expose it to scientific investigation?
  3. If they claim evidence has been destroyed by Christians, :rotfl: that is a very weak argument. It would be evidence only that wiccan was insignificant. After all, the early Christians preserved sacred Scripture, and the writings of the ECF during the persecutions.

There are intellectual blinders on the OP: WHICH CULTURE practiced wicca?

I’ve been reading on the South Pacific culture over the summer. Trust me, the rites and rituals of blood sacrifice are hardly humanistic or gentle or nature loving.

I think, too, the Chinese and Indian cultures also were not “wiccans” of the type you describe.

This wicca stuff is a feel-good religious alternative.

Looked at it, thought about it, talked to people who are seriously Wicca. It all struck me as rather hokey and contrived with no basis in anything but what some guy made up in the 20th century. And, over a few decades other people added really cool and nifty ideas to his ideas.

Hokey, made up religion…I don’t need any more of that. But that’s just me.

Exactly: Trail of Blood. I believe the OP is sincere but challenge his (her?) ability to make a dispassionate judgment on the matter. That is why I asked if English is his/her native language; we need to be cautious here lest we become uncharitable.

I was goign to ask the same thing, to prove to me with viable resources and evidence that wicca* existed before the mid 20th century.
  • I mean wicca, not a hodge podge of beliefs derrived from speculative ideas and conjecture from extinced pagan religions while borrowing ideas from a plethera of animist world religions.
