Matthew 1

Note: The Angel Gabriel, sent by God the Father,says toMary, “Hail, favored one!” “The Lord is with you, you have found favor with God.”The Angel Gabriel venerates Mary, ‘Hailing” her. She is God’s favorite servant. Nowhere in the Bible is anyone mere human being bestowed a greater honor.
**Note: Mary knows now who she really is, and as the greatest disciple, from the beginning, completely and fully surrenders to the will of God. Mary’s responds, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.” Mary at this point becomes the mother of our Lord and God and it is at this point, Mary,as a mere person, **becomes the greatest disciple and the greatest example of love for God and how to truly be a servant of God. “do not be afraid to take Mary” (Mt 1:20) as your mother.

Luke 1

39 During those days **Mary **set out and traveled to the hill country in haste to a town of Judah,40 where she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth.41 When Elizabeth heard **Mary’s **greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the holy Spirit,42 cried out in a loud voice and said, “Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.43 And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44 For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy.45 Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled.” (Luke 1:30-45 (NAB) 1)

**Note: **The infant baby, John the Baptist, while in his mother Elizabeth’s womb, was aware that God (Jesus) had entered the room, when he sensed the baby Jesus, carried in Mary’s womb, he John, “leaped” for joy at our Saviors presence. Causing Elizabeth to spontaneously respond to Mary; Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb (Mary’s description of ‘blessedness” is put in the context, of all women, not “Mary you are blessed” but “**Most **blessed… among women”).

Note: Moreover, “blessed are you (Mary) who believed” (here she is, the great disciple of God, her second role) “that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled. The Lord spoke to Mary, through his Angel Gabriel; “spoken to you by the Lord”. Traditionally, in the Bible, a person “spoken to by the Lord” is considered by definition “prophet”, although she is not given the title “prophet”, I believe by definition, it is implied. Mary the Mother of God, is clearly different from other women.

Luke 1 (song of Mary)

46 And Mary said: “My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord;
47 my spirit rejoices in God my savior.
48 For he has looked upon his handmaid’s lowliness; behold, from now on will all ages call me blessed.
49 The Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name.
50 His mercy is from age to age to those who fear him.
51 He has shown might with his arm, dispersed the arrogant of mind and heart.
52 He has thrown down the rulers from their thrones but lifted up the lowly.
53 The hungry he has filled with good things; the rich he has sent away empty.

Note: “My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord”, not that she, Mary proclaims the “greatness of the Lord”, her very soul “proclaims the greatness of the Lord.” This is another example of the great disciple Mary.

Luke 2

5 to be enrolled with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child.6 While they were there, the time came for her to have her child,7 and she gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

Commentary: Mary was a great mother (and as any good mother) from the beginning;
Her lips must have kissed Jesus (our Lord); Her arms must have hugged and rocked Jesus (our Lord); Her eyes, must have lovingly gazed upon Jesus (our Lord.); Her hands must have washed and feed Jesus (our Lord.); Her voice must have comforted Jesus (our Lord.); Her heart, soul, and being, must have loved, worshiped and protected Jesus (our Lord).
The human nature in Jesus (who Himself was completely human and completely divine) loved and honored his mother as described in the forth Commandment “thou shall honor they mother and father”…

Luke 2

16 So they went in haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the infant lying in the manger.17 When they saw this, they made known the message that had been told them about this child.18 All who heard it were amazed by what had been told them by the shepherds.19 And **Mary **kept all these things, reflecting on them in her heart.20 Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, just as it had been told to them. (Luke 2:16-20 (NAB) 2)

Note: This exact phase, “**Mary **kept all these things, reflecting on them in her heart”, is attributed to Mary, and no-one else in the New Testament. It is a phase (about Mary) which is repeated many times in the Bible. Mary was a great disciple.

Luke 2

34 and Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, “Behold, this child is destined for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be contradicted35 (and you yourself a sword will pierce) so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.” (Luke 2:34,35(NAB) 2)

Note: Here Mary knows who Christ Jesus is and she knows what His destiny will be, before any other disciple! The verse “(and you yourself a sword will pierce) so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.” predicts the suffering Mary will suffer, yet she never waivers in her commitment to our Lord and tells us the by her own suffering that the “thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.”.

The last part “so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed” is interesting, does this mean that true Christians can be identified by their awareness of Mary’s suffering and devotion?.

It is interesting that “doctrine regarding Mary” is one of the main “stumbling blocks” that separates Catholics from many of our Christian brothers. (and so too is “works”)

Matthew 25:45-46

Note: Jesus obeyed the Forth Commandment and was obedient to them, Mary and Joseph.

John (NAB) 2

1 On the third day there was a wedding in Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. 2 Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding.3 When the wine ran short, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.”4 (And) Jesus said to her, “Woman, how does your concern affect me? My hour has not yet come.” 5 His mother said to the servers, “Do whatever he tells you.”
11 Jesus did this as the beginning of his signs in Cana in Galilee and so revealed his glory, and his disciples began to believe in him. 12 After this, he and his mother, (his) brothers, and his disciples went down to Capernaum and stayed there only a few days.

3 Is he not the carpenter, the son of Mary, and the brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him. 4 Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his native place and among his own kin and in his own house.” 5 So he was not able to perform any mighty deed there, apart from curing a few sick people by laying his hands on them. (Mark 6:3-5 (NAB) 6)
Matthew 13

55 Is he not the carpenter’s son? Is not his mother named Mary and his brothers James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas?56 Are not his sisters all with us? Where did this man get all this?”57 And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his native place and in his own house.”58 And he did not work many mighty deeds there because of their lack of faith. (Matthew 13:55-58 (NAB) 13)

Note: Once again, here in Mark 6 and also repeated in Matthew 13:55, the non-believers displayed their lack of knowledge of the Holy Family and the Divinity of Christ, describing Him as merely a “carpenter” and wrongly identifying Joseph as the father of Jesus, clearly all Christians know that Joseph is not the father if Jesus, God is the Father of Jesus!
The people in these verses obviously did not know the Holy Family… They also confuse James Joses and Judas and Simon as the brothers of Jesus, unless of course they mean brother as in ”follower”.
All of these individuals (James, Joses and Judas and Simon) can clearly be identified in the Bible as the children of different parents. “James” for example; There are only two people with the name “James” in the entire New Testament, James the son of Zebedee (Matthew 4:21) and the Apostle James, the son of Alphaeus (Matthew 10:3) These are the only two “James” in the New Testament and there father is not Joseph “the carpenter” and their mother is not the Virgin Mary. They are clearly, are not the biological sons of Mary or Joseph. Yet, many non-Catholics will use the verse to slander Mary and deny her “Perpetual Virginity”, is this how they reveal their “hearts” (Luke 2:34)

Are Christians who use this verse “against” Mary acting as those non-believers described in Mark 6 and Matthew 13, they show themselves as ones who do not know the Holy family?
I know as a Roman Catholic the Holy Family!.
I wouldn’t want to be associated with these non-believers or with what they say here in Luke 6 and Matthew 13.

Note: Mary the Mother of Jesus was with him, by his side His entire life even at the foot of His Cross when most of his disciples and Apostles’ have at this point abandon Him. Mary was truly dedicated to Christ her entire life. The exist no one else describe in the Bible more faithful. No-where in the Bible is any fault found in Mary.

1. The mutual relationship between the mystery of the Church and Mary appears clearly in the “great portent” described in the Book of Revelation: “A great portent appeared in heaven, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars” (12:1). In this sign the Church recognizes an image of her own mystery: present in history, she knows that she transcends history, inasmuch as she constitutes on earth the “seed and beginning” of the Kingdom of God.139 The Church sees this mystery fulfilled in complete and exemplary fashion in Mary. She is the woman of glory in whom God’s plan could be carried out with supreme perfection.
   The “woman clothed with the sun”—the Book of Revelation tells us—“was with child” (12:2). The Church is fully aware that she bears within herself the Saviour of the world, Christ the Lord. She is aware that she is called to offer Christ to the world, giving men and women new birth into God’s own life. Well excuse me while I wipe your footprints off of my backside! I simply stated that the Mary of the Bible is different from the Mary of Catholic theology. Prove your points sir. The Immaculate conception, where is it in Scripture? The Assumption, where is that? Mary was sinless her whole life?? Prove that as well. You have the burden to prove that Mary is someone other than what Scripture says, not me.
