**That Fitna movie I have not seen. But I read about it. It is based on false ideas. Only a few ideas are correct. That is the injustice unequal treatment meted to the non-muslims from muslim side in many ways.

The actual theme of the film is based on false idea. It states that every non believer should be killed. It has referenced the verse 47:4 of the Quran.
That verse is talking about killing the non-believing enemies of Islam. It is not talking about mere disbelievers. It is all about the enemies of Islam called Kaafirs. A kaafir is a disbeliever but not a simple disbeliever. He does not believe and does not allow any one to believe. He persecutes the believers. A good example of a kaafir for the christians would be the life of paul, what he used to do before conversion.

Islam does not allow killing of even one innocent person. So the whole story of the film is false. There are many other fears mentioned there in film but they do not mean anything in advance.**

The most important thing to do when reading anything is to take it in the context of history.

The verses in Qur’an which were cited were done so as though they were universal advice, from the prophet (saw) to kill average unbelievers.

The fact of the matter is that early Muslims had just been disarmed through a false truce, then after laying down their weapons in good faith they were killed by their pretend friends, who had promised them safe passage.

Muhammad was not a Quaker type, who believed in turning the other cheek. Some of his friends were murdered through treachery, and so he responded. This is the context in which these Qur’an verses should be read and understood. The response was specific, and limited to punishing the people who had murdered Muslims. After the response was completed, no more killings took place.

It’s very comparable to what happened in Missouri, with my people. We had our own prophet who led Mormons in battle after Mormon women and children were killed by vigilantes.

If it were the case that Muslims believed in killing all non-Muslims, there wouldn’t be a Mozarabic rite in the Catholic church. When Andalusia (Spain) was a Muslim country, it was full of Christians who lived and worshiped and went about their business. There were also Jews (like Dr. Maimonides), pagans, Atheists and all manner of others. No one was bothered under Islamic rule for hundreds of years. That’s the reality of the situation.

The prophet (saw) had several different wives. At least one was a Jew and one was a Christian. Interesting to note that neither of these women were converted to Islam and neither were bothered by Muhammad (saw) himself.

I’m not a Muslim, and have no real interest in the religion. I’m just a guy who likes facts, as opposed to hysteria.

I studied Arabic in school, but I never got around to reading about the historical or social aspects of Islam until just a couple of weeks ago. Interesting how much is left out of a Western education. Thomas Aquinas got his Aristotelian bent from you guys, which means that we can all be at least partially grateful for Islam’s tradition of open-mindedness and intellectual freedom, whether we know it or not. It seems to have been the motivating factor behind 11th-12th century scholasticism, which was the catalyst behind the rennaisance, enlightenment, democracy, socialism, great Jesuit universities, ad infinitum.

The movie ‘Fitna’ is now on dozens of sites on YouTube. It should not be difficult to find. It is basically a documentary, showing actual news coverage of various Islamic atrocities since and including 9/11, preceded by a display and recitation of the relevant Koranic verses that promote this type of violence.

So far, the Muslim response has been muted; it’s difficult at this level to claim the verses have been taken out of context…
