A good friends mother just passed away. None of the family is Catholic. I can still have a mass said for them, right?
 
Sure, you can have a Mass said for them. However, unless you already know for sure that your friend is okay with having a Mass said for her mother, I would not tell her you’re doing it, to avoid any possible upset.
 
No, I don’t think any of the family would be upset. I think it would be quite the opposite. Thank you!
