Since that isn’t theology, what is it?
Dakota,

I have difficulty understanding you. What is it you are trying to say? What in the world is it you have a problem with?

Explain to me what it is you are trying to say…
Peddling false hopes like that is so very dangerous.
What is a false hope?
Attitudes like this are why Catholics will lose the argument on gay marriage and homosexuality
.

How is it you garner an attitude with words. This is your inference.
Since that isn’t theology, what is it?
Since that isn’t theology? What is the that you refer to and how do you construe a request to be Theology?

I don’t understand you.🤷

By insisting they are “heterosexuals with same sex attraction” you give the impression they can all be straight when it is rather clear that for many that is impossible. That can cause a large amount of psychological turmoil.

To a substantial portion of people today the word gay is not associated with an agenda and this group continues to grow as a percentage.

Heterosexuality and homosexuality are to a very large extent irrelevant to Catholic theology, your request has no basis in theology.

If I’m correct, Christianity has nothing against “fealing” SSA, only against acting on it. An I correct?
Depends on what you have in mind with “has nothing against”. We do not say a person has sinned if they tend to experience an inclination to SSA. However, they are bound to pursue chastity in their heart and mind and actions, as are we all. This may definitely involve not letting oneself freely think and imagine certain things (this goes for all persons).2341 The virtue of chastity comes under the cardinal virtue of temperance, which seeks to permeate the passions and appetites of the senses with reason.

Not correct.

Same sex attraction without sexual relationships is not a sin of grave matter but it is disordered.
Same sex attraction with sexual relationships is gravely disordered and a serious sin.
It is a disorder, however, research is showing it is due to a chemical imbalance in the brain. Homosexual atractions are not a person choice. Acting on them is.

People become gay due to one or more of these factors: upbringing, environment, choice.

Nobody is born gay.
This is an absurd assertion. You can’t know that. You certainly can’t demonstrate it from Scripture or Tradition. Humans are not all the same. I know full well that there are people who self-identify as ‘gay’ that came to that conclusion from wounds in their past. I know this because I’m related to a guy who went through this, resolved things and now has been happily married for 18 years and has more kids than I do.

But he’s not all ‘gay’ men. One size doesn’t fit all. There may well be millions of persons on earth that have such a deep seated homosexual attraction that it can’t be altered. It’s ridiculous to claim that you have been given so special knowledge to the contrary.

The Church indeed teaches that homosexual attractions are themselves disordered. This doesn’t mean they can be ‘fixed.’ Alcoholics have a disorded attraction to alcohol. I (and probably you) still have a disordered sexuality in that when a busty bikini girl shows up on the TV screen to sell soap (or whatever) our first thoughts are probably not “how sad that she’s reduced to just her body that way.” Alcoholics can learn to control their disordered inclincations and so can us men who mostly have a disordered inclination to lust (properly defined) for women.

ALL humans have disordered inclinations. It’s called Original Sin. Persons that are homosexual must not be singled out as if their disordered inclination makes them moral lepers (unclean, unclean!).

THIS is the balance we must strike as christians. We can’t do as one poster here fell for and encourage them to give into their sinful desires, but we ALSO can’t forget that just because their favorite sins are different than ours that we’re better than they are. We need a Savior as badly as anybody else.

Cecilia,

Sorry about this…I ask that you refer to people with same sex attraction as heterosexuals with same sex attraction and not use “gay” anything. Gay implies acceptance of an agenda and I ask you not to propogate that notion about “gay Christian”…there is no such thing.
So, gay people can’t have faith in Christ just because they’re gay?

It’s the Catholics that constantly bash the gays that give us a bad name. Believing that it’s wrong, and completely bashing them are two different things. God wouldn’t want you to be judging them like some of you are. Remember, they’re God’s work, not yours.

Dakota,

You have created in your mind things I do not have in my mind.

I insist. I requested.

How in the world you derive asking for a differentiation from heterosexual with same sex attraction vs gay implies anything but asking for what I believe is nomenclature, is your reading into it something I neither said or inferred.

I understand you believe that the population is growing and it appears you were not part of a dialogue about this another thread that disagrees with you. St. Augustine was in a land where the population grew to the point where the Hippo was over run by Arians…the message persisted elsewhere.

Concerning theology, it appears to me that you believe conversations must be restricted to theology. This is your rule and you are trying to impose it on me. Do you want people to impose rules on you as guides for discussion.

I agree that conversations may go here and there…if you spend some time studying my threads you will see that when it is appropriate I bring the conversation back to the Catechism, Encylicals or the Bible…for do you not know that we are called to be children of God…see what love the father in heaven has…so that the first born has made us fellow heirs…and if heirs then we celebrate that and you as my brother…in a very large family…we see the world differently and disagree.🙂

👍 Well said.

Thistle,

I am going to disagree with you.

People are born heterosexual. They may have same sex attraction.

The cause of this is not known although there are implications that environment and upbringing may be factors. We always have a choice to accept, reject or change behavior that was due to environment or upbringing.

Accepting the gay identity is a choice.

Manualman,

I agree with your conclusion and disagree with your premise…

Paul makes the point that he, like you I and are obligated to the Christian, Greek, Barbarian, foolish and wise…
7to all who are beloved of God in Rome, called as saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Code:
8First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, because your faith is being proclaimed throughout the whole world. 9For God, whom I serve in my spirit in the preaching of the gospel of His Son, is my witness as to how unceasingly I make mention of you, 10always in my prayers making request, if perhaps now at last by the will of God I may succeed in coming to you.
14I am under obligation both to Greeks and to barbarians, both to the wise and to the foolish. 15So, for my part, I am eager to preach the gospel to you also who are in Rome.
While Paul wrote to Rome to Christians he says before describing the errors of the Judaizing Christians, having said he is under obligation to Greek, Barbarian, Foolish and Wise…Who are the foolish and Wise?
18For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them.22Professing to be wise, they became fools,
23and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.

24Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them. 25For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
26For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, 27and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.

28And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, 29being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, 30slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; 32and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.

9There will be tribulation and distress for every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek, 10but glory and honor and peace to everyone who does good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. **11For there is no partiality with God./**QUOTE]Therefore is there is no partiallity with God and God is God of Greek, Barbarian, foolish and Wise…and we are under obligation as Paul says…then we have to admit that as Paul says that all humans are alike in sin…
12Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned— 13for until the Law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law. 14Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who had not sinned in the likeness of the offense of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come.
If Humans are not all the same, help me understand how you reconcile this with Paul…for don’t you know…we are descendants of Adam…🙂

Just for the record, I’m not talking about myself or anyone on here that I know but if a member of this site said they were experiencing “SSA” (Same-sex attractions). What would you tell them?
I would tell them that we all struggle with sins. I struggle with opposite sex attraction since I’m a married man with a strong libido and can’t act on my impulses every time I am tempted by an attractive woman. That includes having to wait when my wife isn’t in the mood (which, to be honest, is most of the time) and having to wait when the kids are around (which is almost all of the time).

Nobody is born gay.
Actualy yes, some are.
There’s no proof that anyone is “born gay”.
  • There’s no “gay gene”.
  • There’s no way to look at a room full of newborns and pick out any that are “gay”.
  • No one can remember that far back to when they were first born.
  • There are too many possible outside factors that can influence personality, behavior, and self-identity such as being molested as a child and suppressing the memory but acting out on it without realizing it or getting brainwashed and conditioned by a parent who has a boy but wanted a girl, etc.
  • Babies and children shouldn’t have any sexual attraction. If they do probably they were molested or exposed to pornography or something else they should not have seen.
Even if the attraction itself isn’t a choice, there’s no proof that anyone is born with same-sex attraction.
