I want to start with a quote from the bible "He summoned the crowd with his disciples and said to them, “Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and that of the gospel will save it. What profit is there for one to gain the whole world and forfeit his life? What could one give in exchange for his life? Whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this faithless and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.” I want to focus on a part of that quote at the moment “For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and that of the gospel will save it. What profit is there for one to gain the whole world and forfeit his life?” My brothers what I am trying to say is we who are called to follow the lord must always keep in mind what our vocation is. It is not enough to be knowlegable about our blessed church but we are also called to serve the people of God some will think that means only focusing on the spirtual side of our people that we are shepherds of the soul. But that is only half true, A sheep shepherd not only feeds his sheep he also protects his sheep from harm he stays with them overnight to make sure wolfs or other animals kill the sheep in other words Live your discernment not in the pleasure that will come in serving the lord but in the service to the people of our creator.
