"Tonight before falling asleep

think about when we will return to the street.

When we hug again,

when all the shopping together will seem like a party.

Let’s think about when the coffees will return to the bar,

the small talk, the photos close to each other.

We think about when it will be all a memory

but normalcy will seem an unexpected and beautiful gift.

We will love everything that has so far seemed futile to us.

Every second will be precious.

Swims at the sea, the sun until late,

sunsets, toasts, laughter.

We will go back to laughing together.

Strength and courage.

See you soon! "

Could you please tell me the original source of this quote? I can find all kinds of pages and blogs attributing this to the Holy Father, but I can’t find one of the Holy Father actually saying it (i.e. his OFFICIAL Facebook page or twitter).

My gut tells me there’s something vaguely wrong with this quote.

I agree with CatholicGeorge that this does not sound like Pope Francis, especially considering the line of thought of his recent posts on Twitter.
Edited to add: Pope Francis recently (end of last week) said that this pandemic will leave us (especially Italy) like after a war and that it will take time to rebuild it all. So it’s a different line of thought from this quote.

I’m a little suspicious of the Pope advocating people “shopping together”. Doesn’t sound like the kind of guy who’s always after us to think of the poor.

Despite my suspicions, and the fact that I don’t have a life like this even when we’re not having a crisis (“small talk” and “toasts” and being around groups of people aren’t my thing, nor do I like shopping with others or posing for close photos), it’s a nice sentiment anyway.

I’m looking forward to when we can go to Mass again like normal, and when I don’t have problems getting food and litter for my cats.

Again, where is the source for this? This kind of sounds like something coming from those who mock Pope Francis. Here is what the pope has said recently:

In these days of trial, as humanity trembles at the threat of the [coronavirus] pandemic, I would propose that all Christians join their voices together to heaven,” Pope Francis said.

Here is a website in Spanish saying that the quote is fake, along with many it Hera being attributed to Pope Francis.

It’s five days since I posted the OP and my memory is insufficient for me to say the exact source other than I think it was on a parish newsletter such as the ones below .

Notice all the sources for the quote are church bulletins and websites which are obviously simply pasting what someone read on Facebook or some forum.
HONESTLY. Listen to how ridiculous this sounds:

“When we hug again, when all the shopping together will seem like a party . . .Swims at the sea, the sun until late, sunsets, toasts, laughter. We will go back to laughing together.“

** 😆 give me a break.

These days anyone can make up quotes and spread them like a virus on the internet.

For example, let’s see, hmm…I got it, how about this:

My darling, how I yearn for the two of us to dance in the moonlight as we once did one score and seven years ago, and we shall, after the war is over and things are back to normal” -Abraham Lincoln to Mary Todd Lincoln (Lincoln papers Library of Congress)
