this does not surprise me in an Islamic country. one good thing though. when i aim my weapon at a driver here in iraq, for coming up too close and too fast, behind my vehicle i dont have to worry about them being a woman. :aok:

Note however, that Sudan isn’t governed exclusively by shari’a, even in northern areas where shari’a is applied:

International Court of Justice jurisdiction is accepted, though with reservations. Under the terms of the Naivasha Agreement, Islamic law does not apply in the south; the legal system there is still developing.[91]
The judicial branch of the northern government consists of a Constitutional Court of nine justices, the National Supreme Court and National Courts of Appeal, and other national courts; the National Judicial Service Commission provides overall management for the judiciary."

And our church didn’t let women come in wearing pants, either, when I was growing up.

I know that I’ll get the advice that if you want to be in that place - follow their rule. If one goes to a Catholic school, then follow its rule and discipline. Likewise, if one a Sudanese citizen, well, follow its rule; if not find a place somewhere else.
As a Catholic or for that matter a Christian, I hope you’re not making a comparison between the Church and Sudan’s Sharia law.

According to the BBC article, the woman being whipped in the video is accused of prostitution. Over there, they don’t burden the taxpayers to give room and board to criminals.

Lashing someone in the above manner doesn’t quite come under the banner of corporal punishment… its simply cold blooded torture and bullying.
