A Nativity Scene at home?

I’m pretty disorganised again this year,I don’t have a Nativity Scene of my own…something I wish I could take my time in choosing.
My parents still have the lovely one I grew up with…when we were children my brothers and sisters and I would place a little piece of straw in the manger when we did something extra charitable,my mum encouraged that.
On Christmas Day we placed the baby Jesus in the manger.

Do you have a nativity scene or set ?
I would love to see any photos 🙂
 
Yes, I have a small nativity set that I put under my small tree. I am a senior citizen now, and remember the nativity set under our Christmas tree when I was a child.

When my grandchildren were small and visited on Christmas Eve, I let one of them put the baby Jesus in the straw.

I don’t know how to take photos and send them over the internet; but I do think that it is great to have a nativity set and to have the little ones help to set it up.

We have St. Francis of Assisi to thank for having the first nativity scene…a live one!
 
We have a light up blowmold nativity in our front yard. It includes the Holy Family, the 3 Wise Men, a Shepard, and some animals.
They’re about 3 feet tall.

One of our local Catholic bookstores has a nice selection of nativity scenes.

I haven’t seen my nativity set since I moved to France. 😐 The Husband insists it’s in the garage (that houses so much stuff that in the nearly thirteen years we’ve lived in our current home we’ve never been able to put the car in it), but neither of us has yet succeeded in unearthing it.

Though I really want to be able to display a nativity, I hesitate to invest in another one because I technically already have one. My head just won’t let me get away with that :woman_facepalming:t2: :woman_shrugging:t2:
 
It sounds like you could almost do with having a 'garage sale ’ as we call them here,and might unearth it that way @UpUpAndAway ?
I was cleaning over at my parents home last night and came across a nativity set I hadn’t seen before,it belonged to their friend who moved away and asked if they would like it.Mum suggested I take it as she already has her own .
So now I have one to set up and show the little grand daughter 😃
 
Awww 🙂 See, problem solved!

We’ll have to clean out the garage eventually, since we’re planning to move. Hopefully I’ll find our set when that happens, or at least find out that it’s definitely not there so I can feel free to replace it.
 
I LOVE YOUR IDEA OF SENDING PHOTOS OF YOUR OF THE NATIVITY OVER THE INTERNET. Who e[lse is there than Grandparents and ‘Seniors’ to keep Chrismas alive and traditional. I live far from my family and seldom see them. The one thing I miss is Christmas, seeing my brothers’sisters come to my mother’s house, drink her coffee faster than she could make it, shoot the breez, gossip, and play ‘catchup.’ Make me happy and share your photos.
 
I live alone and own a few Nativity sets that I used to rotate through during the years,
however, I stopped doing that mostly because I’ve dealt with depression and got out
of the habit of doing it. I keep a Holy Family set out all year though!
 
We got this nativity scene while visiting San Francisco back in 1984. It has a music box that plays Silent Night.

My parents have a simpler one from the 1950s, but the figurines are made of something brittle like ceramic, and over years of rough handling by us kids, St. Joseph’s arm and the angel’s head broke off 😞
