I thought Christ took care of that for us …Go on, be a masochist, venerate Adam and Eve.Thank them for the wonderful state they left the world in when they died.

No, he restored our relationship to God, showed us how to live in a way that is pleasant to God but the world has not been in less of a mess than it was left by A&E ever since Christ has graced this world with his presence. I can particularly feel the curse of A&E’s disobedience in my own lineage, so no Christ didn’t take care of that. The curse is not evenly distributed sadly, some feel more acutely the aftermath of the Fall. Jesus is the new A and Mary is the new E, I’d rather focus on them than on the former.I thought Christ took care of that for us …
And we accept this as the fulfillment of His Plan of Salvation for us. Why would one assume that we should be restored as Adam & Eve in Eden? As a consequence of the Fall, Mankind was first doomed to be isolated from God. Consequently, the promise of Eternal Salvation fulfilled is the far greater prize. No, he restored our relationship to God, showed us how to live in a way that is pleasant to God but the world has not been in less of a mess than it was left by A&E ever since Christ has graced this world with his presence. Amen, and whose to say any of us would have acted any differently than Adam and Eve did? We should rejoice in the mercy shown to them, since it gives hope to the rest of us.We may well find that the worst of sinners are considered higher than us in God’s eyes-including Saints Adam and Eve.
The idea that we should hope for Adam and Eve to burn in Hell for all eternity for doing infinitely less than most us have done just today is abhorrent and I pity anyone who has that view…it is not from God as He would have us pray for the eternal salvation of all and wish no one into Hell, much less take on the veneer of self-righteousness to say the same.look at the news today, look at all the immorality around, think about the 100’s of people who will take their own lives today out of despair, think of all the homosexual people who wished they were different, for all the people plagued by schizophrenia, bipolarity, depression, autism, think of the famines, wars, genocides, incest, meditate on it all, then speak to Adam and Eve to tell them, “Well done, thanks a lot”. If Adam was not born but was created, he would not have a navel, neither would Eve, right? If what the Church says about Adam and Eve is rigorously true, what they do deserve is one massive slap and certainly not to be called saints. They’re the only people I’d be sincerely glad to find they’re in hell, along with a few obvious. Next thing you’ll know, someone will suggest praying a novena to Adam and Eve… They’re the icons of Pandora’s box openers.
Actually, even though theirs was the first sin, it was not, according to Aquinas, the most grievous of sins. They just sort of opened the door. And they may well have, by now, with the help of grace, repented as we’re all called to do. In any case to live in serious sin in this life now is to confirm and applaud and continue in A&E’s act of disobedience, especially if we’ve heard the Good News of God’s mercy and love and forgiveness and elect to remain unrepentant anyway. That would be worse than their original sin. But I don’t believe the Church has l=named them as officially beatified BTW.look at the news today, look at all the immorality around, think about the 100’s of people who will take their own lives today out of despair, think of all the homosexual people who wished they were different, for all the people plagued by schizophrenia, bipolarity, depression, autism, think of the famines, wars, genocides, incest, meditate on it all, then speak to Adam and Eve to tell them, “Well done, thanks a lot”. If I recall correctly, they traditionally had a feast day, though I’m not sure in what calendar. I cannot seem to find it in the 1962 calendar. Apparently it was on the day before Christmas.Actually, even though theirs was the first sin, it was not, according to Aquinas, the most grievous of sins. They just sort of opened the door. But God did not let them back into the Garden of Eden. So he didn’t fully forgive the sin, just the spiritual punishment only. After their expulsion from the Garden tradition tells us that Adam repented fully from his sin. By his sorrow, contrition, pleading, and, most importantly, love, God forgave Adam fully of his sin.
