Sure they can. The Jehovah’s Witnesses did it, why not socons?i just wonder where this is going. a new Bible? can they simple re envent a new Bible?
this is a desecration of the Word of God. has man really gone that far is to assume authority over SS and do whatever they want? i dont see this happening with other sacred scriptures of other religions.Sure they can. The Jehovah’s Witnesses did it, why not socons?
This would be true if languages were just an interchangeable character set with perfectly corresponding grammar, syntax, and semantics. The Bible is a long stable text, and simply says what it says in any language.
thanks for sharing this. amazing. It seems that something of this nature may have happened before. The very idea of a Bible to reflect a right-wing political agenda is troubling at best. The thought of it makes me cringe.
agreed. This would be true if languages were just an interchangeable character set with perfectly corresponding grammar, syntax, and semantics.
But they aren’t. Translation of sacred scripture must take into account both the literal meaning of words (semantics) and their implied meaning, context, idiom, rarity etc.
Without these, we would not properly understand the significance of Christ’s tri-fold “do you love me?” to Peter, since we would not see his use of “agape” and “philos”.
